touch up paint for interior?
I do not know if anyone else is having this problem. i would think some people would. My interior that is the same color as the glove box is scratching off and there is just black underneath. It is happening where my E-break is, on my glove box, and back near the side of the center console. Its not horrible but due to the fact its my car, i notice these things and i wanted to know if there was any touch up paint for it. i noticed it got worse and appeared in other places when i used some of those car wipes on the interior. Any help?
Do a search on "peeling" interiors. Mine did this in my first crossfire and the console was replaced under warranty. This is a common issue with these cars.
Our consoles are painted at the factory with a latex paint. The same goes for mercedes, BMW and a lot of German cars. Some think it is so they can easily customize interior colors. There are guys out there that will touch it up with a latex paint. It will be better and stronger than the original factory paint job. I had this done a while ago after my dealer rubbed the paint off my center console. I demanded new panels but they promised me I would be happy with a painted result. I figured what the heck! It was worth a try since they already damaged the console and if I didn't like it, I would demand new parts. I was really happy with the work that guy did! Since then I had other people rub other pieces off and I am going to get him back to do more touchup work. You can't tell anything happened! Great work!

I had the same problem. Went to Orchard Hardware with the color and had them match it. Had to go back once because it had to much shine. Now it's a great match and I use it all the time. You will get alot more pealing and it only takes a minute or two to touch up.
Dougs--- What kind of paint did you use? Was it some kind of liquid latex? Was there a certain color you used (maybe a number)? I don't want to use spray paint and would love to avoid having someone do it. If there is a easy way I can do it myself, let me know.

It is so hard to match the factory color interior we are running into this problem as we speak. It can always be close but getting the texture under the matte finish with just enough metallic and not having the clear frosting over is almost impossible for a shop. It isnt like car paint where you just pick a color and shoot. I would not suggest using spray paint or touching up little spots. Only real option is to have the whole center repainted by a good shop.

Anyway this is the closet our painter could get and it took him 2 tries, the color, depth and texture is there but the luminosity inst there in the flat.

Johnny Angel.... my mistake. I was referring to the console paint. Not the panels. Sorry about the confusion! But as for the silver panels.... I bet you are right and that is real tuff to match! Speaking of the panels, if you have a good technique to cleaning them without harming the console, let me know.

I just took it to Orchard. They measure the paint with an optics device that tells them how to match that exact color. They matched the paint with only minor problems [to much gloss] and knew what type of paint to use. Cost was about 12 bucks and I have enough paint to touch up for the next 100 years. Than I'm going to sell the car!
I never heard of Orchard. We must not have that down here in Texas. I would love to get some of that paint though. Can you give me any info on the type of paint used? Is there something written on the label. I would love to do this myself instead of hiring a guy.... not to save a few bucks. Just to avoid the hassle of bringing the car in.
