Default 540,000 miles/same car

After I bought my Crossfire coupe, I knew that I would keep it for a very long time. I came across this video and immediately thought of the Crossfire. Hopefully I will still be able to drive the Crossfire if I get to be 89 years old (only 66 years to go)

This is a video about an 89 year old woman and her car. She even drives herself alone to her 70th class reunion, 3,000 miles from home! She also knows how to protect herself on her long journeys. She has driven her car 540,000+ miles.

ENJOY THIS 3 min 30 second video.

Now that's a great story !!
What a wonderful woman to still drive and detail her own car.
She is just like the rest of us basically.
She has a passion for her car.

Thanks for posting this....I just sent the link to my mom.

Great Story. I had a Mercury Comet Caliente as my fist car. Mine was a year newer, 1965. A family hand-me-down.

the best part is all the crap she's gotten replaced for free over the years, at least someone's sticking back to the man a little.

Nice story, if not for the part where she's packing heat; it doesn't say much for the condition of the society we have to live in.

I hope I am that sharp when I that old. The three points that I found hilarious are:
1- She carries a gun... scary but awesome.

2- She thinks elderly people shouldn't be driving. Clearly she is alert and is able to drive, but I know several of my grandparents and parents friends that should not be allowed to drive. Perfect example, one of my grandparents friends asked me to look for them before they pulled out. exact quote, "I can't turn my head anymore", my response was then you should be on the bus, take a cab, and not behind the wheel.

and
3- gotta to love those lifetime warranties.

Regards,
Steve

Nice to see that some one has taken the time to show that the domestic manufactures makers do make cars that last 500,000 miles.
I have a 1977 Ford E150 that has never had any work done on the engine other than replacing the fuel pump.
Several people have told me all domestics are junk and none last more than a 100,000 miles

Interesting coincedence, my grandpa's first Ford and last car was a 65 Caliete, fawn brown, with a stick (of course) It was passed around like an old family baby crib to whom ever needed it and lasted untill the early nineties when nobody in the family wanted the poor thing anymore. It was driven away by a stranger.

Car was indestructable.

They don't make cars like that any more. And one finds few women like her anymore either.

Great find. Thanks for posting.

Mine looked pretty much like this one. This is a Cyclone which was the sports trim version.

I always love the tenacious and spunky seniors! They are a gem for us all. Too bad that our culture does not value the elderly as much as we should. THis lady sure makes us realize that your never too old for anything!

It's nice to see someone taking care of their car and running up the mileage. I'm not looking for a half million, but I would not mind having my Crossfires in 30 years when I hit her age. Now I do intend to drive my A6 well over it's current 140k and baby it just as I do the Crossfires, except the Audi gets to go play in the snow all winter.

540,000 miles and shes not wearing a seat belt? doing an interview while driving might just be a little distracting. maybe she only had a lap one on.

In 1964 cars did not have a 3 point belt.

In 2002 I sold my 15 year 87 Volvo 740-GLE with 250,000+ miles on it. The car looked and ran like it had 30K miles. I hated to get rid if it, but had no where to park it, and frankly I just wanted a new car. I often wonder how much longer I could have driven it trouble free. I know for sure I would have had over 350K miles on it by now. I asked the couple who bought it, if I could have first right to buy it when they would get rid of it, but have never heard back from them.
