SRT6 vs 6 speed tvt
Ok i have been thinking about getting all tvt parts made for the crossfire, i think its the tvt 300 or something. I am trying to see how a full TVT crossfire would do compared to the srt6. I could sell it and buy an srt but I dont like the automatic transmission or the spoiler. So how would a 6 speed TVT compare to the srt6??

Look, I have a 6 spd. I have taken the NA engine about as far as it can go without going to forced induction. Or spending thousands for headers and hardware for a few more HP's. I dyno 192.5HP at the wheel.
Cathy's SRT dyno's at 300HP at the wheel right now. A quantum difference on the highway.
When I am in the NA and want to pass, I downshift to 4th and within a few seconds I am accelerating around the big truck.
With Cathy's SRT one simply has to think about it and....it's done. There simply is no comparison.
Now as OleDoc2U suggested, the manual tranny with some added power to the NA is a fair match to the SRT "in the twisties". But as soon as the road is straight for more than a quarter mile, they are gone man. You simply can't stay with them.
If you have been to the Dragon, there are 11 miles from the lake to Deals Gap, 318 turns and curves that never stop. You can hang on an SRT the whole way. He never gets to use his power. But, after Deals Gap is the Hellbender. Plenty of tight turns with some long straights. Six miles later, Ole Doc will be sittin' on his hood, halfway thru a cigar, waiting for you at the lodge.
My advice, Get the TVT 300 tune package. You will have the engine power the car should have had from the factory. You will absolutely love the performance. The improvement will have you saying that your car is "on fire" and your new Crossfire will have you in love all over again.
It's not better than sex . But damm, damm close.
If you want better than sex, get the SRT.

I have never driven the srt6 but have found one in Memphis which is about a 2 and a half hour drive. We may go up there this weekend and take a look at it. I am young, and the closest thing I have driven to the srt6 in performance is the BMW 135i, which was very fast, but being young I dont know if that much power is really what I need, and I really hate the spoiler on the srt6, I just want to be able to keep up with my friends in 2010 camaros(not the ss). So i'm thinking with the tvt i'll be able to beat the camaro, and hopefully 350z's.
The NA with a goodtune and a good driver can put a Mustang GT down unless they have played with the marbles.
The stick is a big help but you should have the RPM limiter moved up in gears one, two, and three to 6300. That, and a sprint booster will give you an edge.
First gear will let you go to 38 MPH, and second will run close to 70 MPH. Third will do 90.
A stock drop in chip won't do that. TVT will have to custom tune or you can use Eurocharged.
As for the SRT prices, They are a bargain for a little whileyet. Ihave seen some in the $13K's and $14K's
Texas seems to be bleeding cheap SRT's right now. I know of one in DFW that was up for $11,900 NO reserve on Ebay last week. Ist bid would have got it. I think it is still there.
I put it up in cars for sale.

BTW I just bought an Aero blue SRT for $13,500 with 35K on the clock. Car is virtually mint. The deals are out there if you look.

But one of my complaints has been the shift to 3rd before 60, with that time taken out the car should run a 5.7 to 60, and with the other tvt mods hopefully something in the low 5's. To me the car is fast now, i've beaten bmw 330i's with it (I'm a huge BMW fan), I just want a little more power.
You are right about the 60 MPH ceiling on third gear. Damm irritating. Fix it in the tune and you will find yourself telling your BMW friends, "hey pal, you just got you butt kicked by a six."

Gear Gears, the difference in the rear gears is really not significant. From a start the auto and its torque gain will give you the advantage and hole shot. It gets you into the rpm range quicker and has a torque multipication function.
Why are the drag cars running automatics if it were not for the advantage and reduced 'shock breakage' of the automatic gearbox. Down low the power curve of the S/C will lay waste to the n/a.

I personally ran 13.4 in a stock 06 GT on a 70 degrees weather without powershifting with literally 2 weeks behind the wheel with that car. Today i can run 13.1 or even flat 13 with a stock mustang GT. please tell me what a stock srt runs. 13.2? there ya go, the same deal. about 2010 camaro, with a good driver, it is a 12 second car easily.

If you want to stay with your friends Z's and Camaros "drag racing", then the SRT is the only way to go. That is the only thing the SRT does better than a NA car. If you're talkin about staying with them in the twisties, your NA car should be fine.
A well driven "stock" 6 spd. XF will not let a "stock" SRT out of its sight (even on the Hell Bender" section, of the Dragon) and can usually reel em back in on the curves. I know because I've done it with three different "stock" SRT's, and I'm certainly no exceptional driver, that's for sure.
But if Drag racing is the most important thing to you, go with the SRT and learn to deal with the automatic, then swap your hatch with a NA car. (You would have no problem finding somebody to trade with) Probably could even find somebody with the same color as yours.

Might as well check in here...
A fully built m112 v6 motor will come very close to stock SRT power, but not torque.
With the NA you have the advantage of the 6spd and the steep gearing. However, once you hit 3rd gear its all over. The na will give the illusion that it is accelerating faster due to the nature of NA engines having better throttle reponse.
My personal car is the fastest NA I've driven. It is all about the right combo of parts. In first and second I can snap your neck back, much harder then what the SRT does (and I've built some ridiculous SRTs). That's where it ends though, 3rd gear and up and you get humbled very easily by higher HP cars.
I always tell my customers to decide exactly what they want from the car and then decide on a budget. If around town driving is their most important aspect, then I suggest a CAI and exhaust and call it a day.
For a complete motor with all the bells and whistles and power to back it up you are looking at around 8K (they come forged too).
When you are ready to upgrade shoot me an email or give me a call and I'll be happy to go over everything.

The other thing I have heard nothing about is brakes. If you are talking drags, no reason to upgrade. But what helps me out most in the twisties is larger tires, upgraded brakes, and the 6 speed we all love so much. And let me tell you, I would rather have a brake upgrade than 5 or 10 hp any day of the week.....
I have both an N/A and an SRT. There is no way a N/A would keep up with an SRT either on the twisties or a strip! Manual or auto, modded or not. The level the SRT is at standard is far greater than you could get an N/A to with a sh*t load of mods!Engine, suspension, brakes. To get an N/A anywhere near an SRT you would need to spend so much more money, you may as well buy an SRT and not work for a year! The manual gearbox of a 6 speed pales into complete insignificance when compared with an SRT!

I was playing with a modded yellow C5 vette, eating his tail until he had to cut corners, crossing the yellow line, trying to shake me...which he did, I quit...no need to get someone hurt to prove a point...Johnny, you are the only one who ever witnessed me all out, and I haven't done it again down there since that day...I just play and have fun with it...Tom got a small show, but not all out...we need a track for that...buy the SRT, you won't be disappointed...now my NA friends...your cars are just fine, and I miss driving a stick as well...so don't take what I said wrong...I like your cars too.....just do this stuff safely...pick your area well....I'm done...lol
