If the FOB got wet, just order a new one. You need one with the little board in it.
Transplant the RFID chip from the old to the new, then do the customer programming trick to train the lock/unlock buttons to the car and you are good.

Have you tried 'resync-ing' the FOB? Might be all you need?

I think the mechanic tried resync-ing the fob but it didn't work. It's not the fob. The battery was replaced recently on one of them.
I did disconnect the battery for the winter so re-syncing might be the answer.
thanks

YOu dont need a "mechanic" to sync the FOB to the car.

Get in, close door.
Put key in ignition.
Press lock or unlock twice.
Turn key to "on".
Turn to off, get out of car and press "lock", doors should lock.

There is a slightly modified version of the above where you turn key to on, then turn to off, then do the above.
When I synced mine, I only did what was above and it worked.

WHy going to a car wash (as bad of an idea as that is) would stop the FOBs from working, I have no idea. The SKREEM is behind the instrument cluster, there is no way you got it wet.

the only reason I mentioned the car wash is that's when the problem started..Whether that's the cause and effect idk. I think one of the posts says cheap plastic housing that covers the wires in the car gets cracked, just a guess.
I didn't take it to the mechanic to get the fob resynced he just did it as a guess.
The fob didn't get wet, fyi
I mentioned going to the car wash because one of the other posts says the housing encompassing the wiring is cheap plastic and cracks and you need to get the urethane housing

Nobody knows how to work on it. It's not the battery in the fob. The lights go on/off. Neither fob got wet
EXACTLY what 'lights' do you refer to here?

You mean the taillights on the CAR? That means the SKREEM is getting the message and the security module is flashing the lights. Then the FOB is fine.

You have problem with the pump/pump controller. Yank the trim out of the trunk area and see if you see:
  • Rodent damage to the wiring
  • Water damage to the wiring/pump/electrical connectors
  • Anything PHYSICALLY wrong with the pump itself

COUPES: The pump is below the trim in the trunk as shown above.
ROADSTERS: The pump is in the passenger side rear wheel well, ahead of the tail light assembly.

(Not sure why it is not in the same position in Coupe and Roadster)

It is in the passenger side well behind the taillight and under the foam block which is a beech to remove as the trim has to be cleared out first. The roadster has it above the trunk floor? I thought they were all in the well.

Nope. In Limted and Base Roadsters (and I assume SRTs but I've never owned one) the pump is in the wheel well. The spaces under the 'trunk mat' are empty. I store tools , spare bulbs and a spare crank sensor in there.

It's a pain to get to the pump cause ya gotta yank out all the trim in the trunk.... same for getting to the top pump and module -it's in the Driver's side cavity.

Question Re: Things I learned

what's a new pump run, price wise? If we're dealing with a vacuum, I'm guessing it takes some technical expertise to install that, no?
Maybe this is a dumb question but my luggage came above the trunk so where is the luggage compartment?

Photo required as I have none in my files, and I have plenty of files.
Dies it make it less prone to water damage?

Not on my 2005 limited roadster - it's in the well below the floor on the passenger side.
