Default key fob remote wont work

My spare remote has new cells, no damege but wont lock/unlock the car.
Is it likely to need reprogramming.
Is there a way to get it to talk to the car again ???
Regards

Who says the fault is in the FOB?
Why and when did it stop working?

My primary remote works... put new batteries in the spare... and the dim LED now flashes in the remote but it wont unlock/lock the car.
It starts the car.... but it would be nice to have a second remote working...
Do these dump their program with a flat cell like the Ford remotes do ???

Kinda sounds like it - but in this day and age of non-volatile memory, it should not be.

My knowledge of the FOB/SKREEM system is almost non-existent.

Ask me about your convertible top or mysterious battery drain and I can help!
Other than that..... I got almost nothin.

Im sure there is a procedure for reprovramming a remote by using the good one in the ignition and the spare next to it to learn....
Its a sequence thing like re-setting the throttle pedal.....
Any one help here plz ????

From the owners manual :

NOTE: Only replace the batteries in pairs.
The system may have to be resynchronized if the transmitter
is without voltage for several minutes. To synchronize,
aim the transmitter eye at the vehicle and briefly
press either the Lock or the Unlock button twice. Within
approximately 30 seconds, insert the key in the ignition
and turn it to the ON/RUN position. The remote control
should once again be operational.

Who the hell looks in the owner's manual? No OTHER manufacturer would put it in there, it would be in the SHOP manual, buried on page 3387 under some dumb-*** heading like "Fluids and Capacities".

I agree with you Mark, but in the back of my mind I remembered reading this, and the first place I searched was the owner's manual, got lucky
( I actually read the whole thing the day I bought my roadster ) .......

Chrysler loves us and takes care of us.. LOL.

But this does make me wonder.. "if" a fob was sequenced to "learn" and you did this standing next to someone elses crossfire.. and they turned on their ignition within the time frame.. would your fob now be set for that car?

I did too, when I got the Red one. But that was3 years ago this coming Saturday.

And my non-volatile memory is a bit more volatile these days.

MRMiata: I think the last part, where the key and car communicate, happens when the key is IN the lock with the ring around it. So if you don't actually put the key in, it does not "learn". But I am NOT sure....

Wanna try it at the Dragon this fall? I'll bring my spare key just in case we mess up!

When I got the car last Dec. it only had one key. So I ordered a new one.

Meanwhile, I spoke with the previous owner( got the car from a dealer) And he had the spare key, and original radio.

I programmed the FOB today...VERY EASY, Thanks!

The key has to be in the ignition and turned to learn.
