I really need you guys on this one or I'm done. Somehow I cracked my upper and lower oil pan the mechanic had to pull out the engine to get the upper pan out and to install the new one. He has reassemble everything but now the engine doesn't turns or nothing only warning lights does anyone has any advice please help!!

 

Need more info. Was there a event that led to the cracked oil pan? Like you heard a noise , were you running the car hard , does the motor turn over and just won't catch, if the motor won't turn over try manually turning it over with a large breaker bar to insure it is not mechanically jammed or seized . My guess is that if it turned over before the mechanic pulled the motor, then he has missed a step when mating it back up to the trans.

Need more info like is it a 6 sp or auto could be the neutral safety switch or the gear shift position sensor unplugged etc......also have you got 13v from the battery these cars are real picky about the battery voltage.

 

its an auto and i rand over a curve now im a true believer in dont text in drive, but the engine does nothing at all it dosent attempts to turn over or anyhting

 

Really this issue should be up to the mechanic that pulled the engine. If it was running before he took it out, it sure as heck ought to run after he put it back in. Curious - how many hours labor did he bill for?

Only caveat to the above is if you ran the thing out of oil after you busted the pan and damage to engine existed before it was pulled. Even then, the mechanic should have determined if the motor would turn over. Heck - he should have taken a peak at the bearings while the engine was out and the pan was off

 

I agree. He has something pluged in wrong or not at all... A strait forward remove, replace oil pan, install, should have no issues starting again providing it was running before he started to work on it.

 

Yes it was running fine and he says it cranks manually he thinks its a fuse he says nothing is getting power does anyone know which fuse this would be.

 

I think you have learned two things, don't text and drive and don't use this mechanic again.

 

Who put the engine in? It almost sounds like the engine harness was not plugged back into the modules in the control box under the hood.

 

Well I've finally got my car back, YES!!! BAD NEWS, its running rough and my oil light is on and it says -2.0l on my odometer. Cant be a bad oil sensor had a new one put in when the oil pan was changed and i hope it isn't low on oil being that i gave the guy 9 quartz of oil. do you guys think it needs more then the 8 1/2 being that my upper and lower oil pan was change?, is my car running rough because he took the engine out to change the oil pan and threw off the timing? I'm open to any ideas i just want my baby back to running how it was running before i hit that pesky curve!

 

dbondz....don't take this wrong my friend, but there isn't anyway we can help you without knowing all this guy did. Did he pull the engine completely out, or just high enough to work on the oil pan? The other thing is, he IS a mechanic, right, not just a buddy who helped you out? Any competent mechanic would know what was wrong. It shouldn't be running rough, and a pan replacement only wouldn't have screwed the timing. But impact onto something, might have broken or damaged electronics somewhere else on the car... So, retrace everything from ground wires to the frame, the starter, as well as all the fuses. Look around the box containing the PCM, RCM....make sure something isn't unpluged, cracked shorting out etc.... Make sure vacuum hoses weren't knocked off, or not put back on...time to start looking at everything...

 

OIL level, dont guess, pull out the damnd dipstick out and check it. That is all about helping yourself. Woody

I had the oil pan changed on my roadster last year at the dealership. Mechanic cracked it when he was fixing the low oil sensor. I don't think it took more than an hour or so from the time the part came in so it's not that hard of a job. I hope you get this straightened out.

 

I was wondering about this part but then I read about texting and the curb.. don't think those qualify as somehow. Either way it's on the mechanic to get it running/fixed if it was running right prior to pulling the engine. Regarding the oil.. come on now and check the freaking oil level, you can't expect us to believe that you're that 'handy-less".

 

I just ran over a middle median avoiding a texting driver in my 2005 Crossfire... Looks like my bottom oil pan cracked but I'm not for sure about the upper.... How much are they charging you for the entire job??? I priced the lower pan at $177 from Chrysler n I'm hoping that's all it is...

 

If you cracked the oil pan, you better be checking the sway bar, lower suspension, and crossmember as you have to get through them plus the belly pan to get to the oil pan. Also check that upper pan as they are so easy to break.

 

From visually inspecting I see no other damage... After hitting the middle rural divider the plastic shield broke away n all I see are pieces from the bottom oil pan. I reached around and couldn't visually see any other damage....
