Default Idle problems!

Hi,

I have been having a small odd problem with my car. When I am at a stop light, and go to take off, it’s seem like the car is starving for fuel, like it stubbles. This does not happen all the time. Took it into the dealer and they put it on the machine and they changed out the ABS module.

So I leave, and it still is doing the same thing. I go back today they put it back on the machine, and it does not throw any codes.

He said the left and right side 02 sensors are operating at different rates, one is lean and the other is rich. Wondering how he found this out? If the machine won't throw any codes for him. They are suggesting I change them out, but can’t guarantee it will fix the problem. Any suggestions……please!

I need them for this dealer. I just don't want to be out driving and get stuck some place!

Hi,

It has never died on me yet. Just seems so odd to have to pump the throttle a little to get her going , when it does happen.

What told them it was the ABS module, did they throw some chicken bones on the floor and see the problem in the bones.
I'd be a little peeved right now if I were you. I would want the ABS unit back as there was nothing wrong with it.
I'd guess it isn't those 02 sensors either. They will keep throwing your money at the car until doomsday.
Any other symptoms?
Possibly fuel related, pump or filter.

Onehundered80, I was sure hoping you were up!

The ABS through 3 codes 1000-280 ABS internal failure..1200-101 Brake lamp switch circuit...1140-180 Steering angle sensor (SAS) circuit. Faound several for sas dealing with controller connection and g-200 ground circuit. Stated to replace control module. But it also said Rec replace control module before proceeding with any other repairs of abs system. Humm is the control module the ABS??

1) Where the hell did you come up with those oddball codes?

2) Was it from the same moron who, when confronted with an Idle Problem, thought it best to replace the ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM controller?

I get so angry reading these threads, with incompetence like THIS at dealerships there is NO HOPE for the USA.

I got those codes from the print out they gave me, did have to ask for it today. Just seemed so odd them changing out that ABS, for idle problems. But today it didn't throw any codes, if they even put it back on the machine today. I wasn't with the car. Thank goodness I have an extended warranty.

What is even odd to me, when I called them back the next day to tell them that the car was still doing the same thing, that was on the 11th, and I wanted them to check it out again, they said they loaned the machine out to another dealer. And just got it back today. Here is my new question. Is there a special machine for Crossfires? I don't think so.......And don't they use that computer for all new cars that they sell? And if so, how can they work without the computer? Or is there a special tip that only works on the computer in our cars? What a bunch of stupid questions, I just asked

You didnt mention if this was a Chrysler "Stealership". I do not take my Crossfire to the Chrysler Stealerships because the technicians are idiots. The vehicle is basically a Mercedes, so take it into a reputable Mercedes repair shop. Shop around and ask questions. I found a great mechanic that works on my wife's Volvo. His shop only deals with imports. I was taking my wife to pick up her car in my Crossfire, when I pulled in...I was surrounded by all the mechanics in his shop! They had all kinds of questions for me, instead of the other way around. A few of their customers drive Mercedes SLK320's which are an exact duplicate of our cars. My car was the first they've seen.

My advise..steer clear of the Chrysler stealerships. You're driving a Mercedes in Chrysler clothing.

Because SOMEONE had to say it again. I don't go to Chrysler dealerships with my car, I go to a local, independent, Mercedes shop.

The device they are using is unique to the Crossfire, which is a product of MERCEDES.

See the post above.

Your extended warranty kinda handcuffs you to Chrysler Dealerships. If you drove a Chrysler product, that would be no bid deal. But you dont.

Hi Stephenjxn,

Yes, unfortunally it is a "Stealship". But I have the extended Chrysler Warranty, and I know our cars are all Mercedes. But...Mercedes won't help, and we have a great shop for my hubby's cars, that that's all they work on are imports. But since I have the warranty, I would have to pay them to do whatever work was needed But I was thinking of going to his friends shop, paying them to put the car on their computer, and see if they pull any codes...just to have piece of mind with my car. I have had it since it was new, so know how it's supose to run!

So Pizzaguy, your saying that it take special adapter to hook up to the Mercedes, on their computer to see what could be wrong with it? That must be why when I would call to take it back, they were trying to borrow that part from another dealer to even do my car? I waited from the 11th till today to even get the call to bring it back in......

Now I’m wondering if I took it to that independent import guy, and he put it on their computer, and found something, if the dealership would be able to turn it into Chrysler to get my car fixed, under my extended warranty!

Just getting the dealership to listen to what the other shop found would probably be impossible.

Im sorry that so many people buy these cars THINKING that they can take them to the average Chrysler dealership and get things fixed.
It just isn't the case. A FEW dealerships can, but most are LOST when dealing with these cars.

I take mine to a local shop where one of the owners wives has a Mercedes 320 - he knows more about my car than anyone at a Chrysler dealership!

Of course, I do as much work myself as I can.... but I am limited in the more major mechanical stuff.

I have an OBDII bluetooth adapter and I use the "Torque Pro" app for Android and I can get almost all the statistics needed to diagnose most issues with the xfire. That being said you can view the voltage readings on both O2 sensors.

BAFX Products (TM) - ELM 327 Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool - For check engine light and other diagnostics - Android compatible : Amazon.com : Automotive BAFX Products (TM) - ELM 327 Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool - For check engine light and other diagnostics - Android compatible : Amazon.com : Automotive

I love this thing!

My ebay android phone came in last night.. First time with android so spent the evening loading apps including Torque Pro. Now just waiting on the Elm blue tooth adapter.

No "phone service plan" so I'm gussing some features won't work since they seem to use GPS tracking for speed etc.

Pizzaguy,

When you buy your car brand new, and they offer the extended warranty, of course your stuck going to a Chrysler dealer. I woud love to be able to take it some place else, that I could trust that works on them. But with the warranty I'm Stuck!

We have a Merceds SL500 that of course goes to a local shop, that's who I want to put my car on their computer, then take the print out back to the dealer to read it! And get my car fixed correctly.....

Have to totally agree with this.. Unless you just like frustration and "can you bring it back next week"..

I'd have to say they don't have a crossfire trained tech there..lol.. and these boys are going to be reading manuals and taking a "best guess" approach.

They would have to be beyond stupid to not take your Mercede's techs diagnosis and give it full merit.

Called the dealer today. Told them I was taking the car to the place hubby takes his to. Putting it on their computer to see what it reads. Dealer said he will work with what ever it shows to turn into Chrysler to get it paid on my Warranty! And said it it shows anything, they would also re-pay me for having to have it done some place that I trusted right now, till they earned my trust, this is how they will work with me. Not to bad, I guess.

Wondering when they put it on the computer, if they will see those codes that was listed on my receipt.....that had them change out the ABS Module?

I was wondering if they might not go this route with you. It's the smart thing to do to get the issue resolved, and saves them time they could be spending wrenching on a 300C or something.
