Quiet tires
Read through the Tire Review thread and you'll find that alot of tires are essentially quiet when new. Here's my post about the Toyo Proxes4+ that includes a 45 day/500 mile "No Regrets" trial period to test them out!

Recently bought a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Very happy with how quiet they are, and they ride very well also.
TIRE RACK has surveys and reviews of tires regarding handling, ride, noise, traction etc. When buying tires I always read their website before I buy. They also had a better price this time compared to local suppliers.

About a month ago I purchased a set of General Tire G Max AS03 all season tires. They really stick in the corners and are quiet to boot. Very pleased, check out the ratings at Tire Racks website.
Think everyone running them has a "thumbs up" on them.
I'm on my third set of tires on the SRT: First set, Michelin PS2's - okay when new, downright dangerous when worn (smooth at 14,000 miles.) Second set, General Exclaim uhp's - rode a little softer, did not handle as well, and became very loud as they became worn (smooth at 17,000 miles.) Just had Kumho Ecsta 4x's installed a couple of months ago: I have to tell you, I much prefer these to the first two sets. Handling is not quite as intense as the PS2's, but certainly acceptable ( I do not think you could make this car handle poorly.) The improvement in ride is amazing, the sharp kicks from poor pavement are gone, and highway comfort is much improved. So far, they are VERY quiet; we will see as they wear if they remain so. Granted I have less than a thousand miles on them, but I am inclined to observe that the Kumhos are as good as one will find in an all-purpose tire ( they're even rated for light snow - ultra high performance all season). I live in Pittsburgh, PA, and it is a comfort to know that I can take the car out in an emergency in the winter if I have to. TBW
My General GMAX AS03 seem to be really quit, corner very well, and quiet. Only have a few thousand miles on them, time will tell. I think the Hankooks are very good as well.
I should have said mine are General Exclaim uhp's. And, just like TBW said, they became louder as they wore down. They will pass inspection now, but come next spring. I will need new rubber. My XF sleeps through the long Vermont winter. I have a long time to mull this over. Keep the opinion coming.

How many miles did you get out of yours? Mine were on the car when I bought it a year ago, so I don't know what to expect.
There are a number of good tires out there. I suggest you visit TireRack, and look at there comparison data. My favorite have been Generals and Mich's. They are the lighter and quieter than most.
I used them for fronts. They lasted 20,000+ at least. It really depends on your driving style. If you are going to do a lot of aggressive, curvy road driving, expect less life.

1st set were nittos really quiet and smooth till about 4000 miles and at 8000 unbearably noisy and wore out
2nd set hankooks also quiet and smooth till around 18000 miles and right now at around 20000 ish the backs are slick the fronts still have good tread maybe another 5 to 6000 left
3rd set will be hankooks again
continental was the original tire

Which ones do you have, the PS2's? If so, great handling tires IMHO, but a short life if you drive "spiritedly" The Hankooks on the rear of my SRT-6 (stock size) were somewhat disappointing.
I am on the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. My car came with the Pilot SS and I kept them when I needed new. I had not found the forum yet. Like I say, I love the tires, but have nothing to compare them to. I also padded my trunk with carpet pads to deaden road noise and that seemed to help.
