7th Annual Fall 2013 - Tail of the Dragon GTG - October 4, 5, 6
Bumpity Bump . . . Suburban Saturday at the Dragon . . .
My wife, Cindy, will be driving our Suburban on Saturday at TOD and following along with the "tourist class" group for the day (allowing me to enjoy the challenge of running "The Devil's Triangle" in silent focus). If anyone's spouse would prefer to ride with Cindy rather than getting jostled around during spirited Crossfire driving, they are welcome to join the group in our Suburban. We have two ladies signed up already and still have four more seats available. Please e-mail us directly at RedDogNumber1@aol.com so we can reserve a seat for you to enjoy Suburban Saturday at the Dragon . . .

I'm all set and ready to go. I've put a brand new set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports on the rear of the car and the car has never handled better. As many of you know I've constantly struggled with the handling of this car. It has this snap oversteer like you wouldn't believe, so I kept the Pilot 1 A/S on the front (less grip) and added the Super Sports to the rear (more grip) and have created a car that understeers slightly.
Needless to say I'm super stoked about this upcoming event.

Yep only two weeks now, oil change done, new Hankooks on the rear, and windshield trim re attached so i wont loose it on the way to Fontana. Cant wait, my wife is fed up with me mentioning it everyday.
Looking forward to meeting old buddies and all the new folks.
Carl i know you will enjoy the weekend so much.
Everyone try to remember walkie talkies are a good idea to bring, helps on the runs to stay in touch and not to loose anyone. I have a cheap set and they work fine, and bring spare batteries.

Last minute reminders:
1) Go to Walmart or somewhere and get some cheap FRS radios.
Having the ability to talk to other drivers (to ask for a pit stop, or to point out the deer/bear/naked cheerleaders you see off the road) makes the drives way more fun and social!
Motorola MH230R 23 Mile Two-Way Radio with 22 Channels, 121 Privacy Codes, NOAA Alert - Walmart.com
Most any FRS radio will do!
2) Join your local convoy to the Dragon:
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...going-tod.html
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...y-atlanta.html
There are also some coming from Colorado/Missouri and I know there are a few coming from Texas and lets not forget the Florida bunch or start your own group!
3) I also bring a little compact lawn chair - sometimes you just want to pull over on the Dragon and watch the circus go by!
4) Remember everything else: Light jacket for those cool evenings, a video camera or at least a camera to capture the memories.
5) Send emails to all your co-workers and friends telling them you will be out of email/cell coverage most of the time and they are ON THEIR OWN while you enjoy the best weekend in years.

Where is this "high mileage club" ? You mean the car or the driver or both? Good info so I got some radios for the trip. Can't wait!
No, NO, NO! Going to Machine Gray was not an upgrade, it was a bastardization of the original color.
I attribute the decline is sales, primarily, to this change in color.
We have about ten first-timers on the roster, do I have that right?

It will help you count beyond your fingers

( and yes, I do look exactly like my avatar ..... )
Ok, updated my "first timers" post a few posts up - looks like we are "top-heavy" with new people.
This is a GOOD SIGN.
This is a GOOD SIGN.
And you are both wrong the BLACK xfire is the Purest color as it has ALL the colors and everything from there is a dilution from it........SSB is ok as well
I know BLACK is beautiful..had several cars(black) over the years(actually a lot of years)...But, fellows, BLAZE RED AIN'T a color to be completely discounted!!
And, I believe it only came out in 2006 and 2007. It is the rarest color Crossfire..
Try finding one for sale in a manual shift roadster.
Pizzaguy, (Marc)
I have edited your list in the quote below to what I think shows "first timers" but after 10 Dragon meets it's difficult to remember everyone.
I spent a few minutes to review all the attendance lists from past years in a single thread I created back in April and this is the list of "First Timers"
if I am correct.
I apologize to anyone listed here who has attended a previous meet and is not a "first timer".
This meet which began in Fall 2007 has had a very impressive history for attendance
Spring & Fall Dragon info / Attendance History
PS ~~~ALL COLORS WELCOME
