8th Annual Fall 2014 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 3, 4, 5
Nice find and the price is reasonable.. have to agree with "wheel shop junked it".. had air when you took it in.. simple enough there. Chinese knock offs.. got one back a year or more ago.. ran it till I upgraded to Mandrus. No issues at all finish was nice quality too.
Oh i fought with them! They said there is no way there machine did that and I had to of hit a pot hole. I told him I think I would know if I hit a pot hole in my car. I did go to another tire shop at home where I know the mechanic and he assured me there machine does not touch that part of wheel. So I am gonna suck it up. Just bough the one on ebay. New for $185.00 ughhh!!! Oh well.
I agree that the wheel shop probably damaged her wheel. If it wasn't leaking air before she took it in then they are the ones that cracked the wheel. Also that "new" wheel is not OEM . . . it's a "replica" wheel. Might be just as good as OEM but I don't know and I wouldn't buy it.

Maybe you should go with car-part.com and get a good used one .......
( I see several in Florida, closest one seems to be Vero Beach )
CAUTION : most of these wheels will have some damage, and some may be bent !!!!!!
It's hard to tell from a visual inspection if a wheel is slightly bent or not.
Best you can do is place it face down on a known flat surface and see if there are any gaps, then flip it over and repeat inspection.

It has been noted that some of us have had same issue with rims cracking , don't know why but they do , it good thing that it show it self before heading out to the Dragon , be safe out , Keep the wing up see at the Dragon
Just what I was about to comment.. along with that Chinese knock off was the best looking one on my car.. finish was great.. balanced out nicely.. etc. PERSONAL experience not just a knee jerk gun shy statement. Don't worry yourself over it Diana.. Oh..and mine didn't crack.. 1/2 x 3" bolt went through the tire AND rim.. was a sad day that day.. LOL

A steady had with a tig can make it as good as new. Many ppl just fix I never like the idea of knowing I have a Crack in my wheel
Lisa had a rim fail like that just by hitting some broken up pavement on the edge of Hellbender (or was it on the Dragon?)
I'd bet SOMEONE on the forum has a rear wheel laying around after upgrading to aftermarket wheels.... THAT I'd be more confident in buying than anything used, for the reasons already mentioned.
Yea, I'd post a WTB ad here and maybe start a thread on the Facebook page - SOMEONE has a good, used wheel laying around that you could trust to be good!

I have extra wheels front and rear, for both NA's and SRT"s if anyone wishes to "borrow" them until they get new ones. I keep them for emergencies only. For Friends and just in case one of mine cracks and I am Broke. Which lately is often.
Crumpy's SRT rear wheel did this spontaneously last year and I was able to keep her on the road until I could replace her broken one with a clean wheel bought at my convenience..
Diana, these wheels crack occasionally. Not a bad idea to buy a cheap rashed one of each and keep them around.

All I know, is that I have new plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, belt, belt tensioner, idler pulley, transmission oil, differential fluid and a fresh oil change. I will be changing air filters tomorrow. I sure hope there isn't anything else my car needs mechanically....
AND, I will be leaving Sunday on a business trip that won't end until October 1 - so probably can't detail the car before the Dragon - but it DOES look like I will BE THERE!
A-MEN!

Does anyone have their date/route planned? We're planning to leave Ohio after work on Thursday and stop in the Lexington Kentucky area Thursday night.
Plans have slightly changed. Since no one is staying at the Floence, KY hotel, we can all meet up at Steak and Shake. The plan is to leave at 8 am. Some of us may arrive early to get breakfast.
Steak and Shake is at the corner of Houston and Turfway. Exit 182, west of I-75. Actual address is 7485 Folts, Florence, 41042.
If you plan to attend, PM me and forward a cell number, so we won't leave without you. Please bring your FRS Radio.
Thanks, James
I have PM'd everyone that showed interest so far.
