8th Annual Fall 2014 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 3, 4, 5
one ,more thing I need to mention all that have never been to the dragon before should keep their traction control on at all times,we have lost a few in the past coming up the dragon for the first time, and stay in your lane never cross the yellow lines,if you have someone following closely ,there are pull outs, pull over and let them go and give him a good wave, remember drive at your own speed never get out of your comfort zone ,okay be safe coming in, See at the dragon
I leave from exit 14 at 1pm after lunch at cracker barrel. 678 eight seven 7 tu for nyne three.
I'll wait on you in the parking lot unless you have told them that my name is also on the room ......
Ray, thanks for the "traction" info. We are real newbies not looking for any off roading......Marty has an FJ Cruiser for that (with only one off road experience - that being an accidental ditch dive to avoid a stopped car). Whew!
See you at the dragon.
See you at the dragon.

I recommend this advice be taken seriously. Your Crossie driven daily handles different when you have it loaded with luggage and a friend. More than once, the excitement of the Dragon makes drivers overachieve and overreach. Get to the Hotel, unload you burdened chariot and then have a spirited run thru the Dragon. And no underwear, unmentionables and other luggage spills out on the road.
Be safe and have fun the whole weekend.

Yes, we will take it easy Franc. Marty will be driving and he's slowed down a lot now that he's into yoga. I'm the one to look out for cause I have a lead foot.

First hand experience! Coming in from the west at dusk +30 .. we hit the start of the Dragon.. "oh this is going to be fun!".. right up till I hit that first left hand switch back that overhung a blind drop off.. Hard braking and tires squealing we made the corner.. And my wife let me live.. LOL.

I am leaving Thursday with a goal of arriving about 4:00 PM. I don't have anyone to convoy with. I will be leaving Florence Alabama, to Huntsville, Chattanooga, Cleveland (Tn.) then turn on to 64. That is the road through Ocoee . where they did the Olympics Kayak races, (lots of curvy roads) then north through Robinsville.
Thank you for the safety advise! we will follow your suggestion for sure! We are giong there for fun and meet new and old friends and not to loose any
Also want to add.. our room last year had one accessible AC plug. . Don't know about the rest.. we are bringing a multi plug adapter.. hard to charge batteries .. run notebook .. etc. with just two plugins ...
Ya it that way in all the rooms , but thanks for the idea ,setting one multi plug adapter out now to be pack
Note to self. You must pedal faster and harder when GoGirl is at the wheel of her Crossie.
I will try and keep up.
Especially after I learn all the tricks from you experienced drivers.
We will be coming through the Dragon for 1st time Thursday on way to Fortana. Starting out on the road from Kansas tomorrow afternoon. See you all Thursday, hopefully before dark.
I'd like to see anyone keep up with you down hellbender hill. (I MIGHT almost do it going up.).
Friday looks to be a rain out!
OUR HOSTS TELL ME THE Friday IS FORCASTED 100% RAIN.
So, they wish to move the BBQ from Friday to Saturday.
I'm all for it but, will understand anyone who wishes to make other plans for Saturday.
Let me know here or with a PM.
I may plan a cades Cove run for Friday or perhaps the Machines thru time Museum. Ideas anyone?

Just checked the forecast for Friday and it's 100% rain
Saturday and Sunday though are 0% so that's looking to be in our favor
How bout we just take are wet shoes off at the door on Friday and move the BBQ into the garage.....LOL
Don't really know how it will all go now ....just gonna have to wing it if that's OK.... although I'm sure your friends still need a head count for the BBQ
