Default trunk latch failure on and off?

Anyone dealt with this?
My trunk latch on my 07 Roadster felt like it broke today. Flimsy moving back and forth but doing nothing to open the trunk.
I just kept pressing the key fob for lock twice and unlock twice over and over, probably four to five times before ...presto! I could press the trunk latch, feel resistance and voila it could open and raise.
Thank God, the beer was in there tonight!
Note for future: figure out how to avoid/fix and be sure to put beer in floorboard of passenger seat. Sheriff's office be damned!

I've had the same thing happen on my '06 roadster. But, it never has taken more than a couple of lock/unlocks with the key to fix the problem.

Mine does that at least every other time. Latch feels disconected and then I try again without doing anything else and it works.

Mine does the same.....you hear a click but you cannot get the latch to work.

All I have to do is push down the trunk with the palm of my hand and then squeeze the handle! Once I figured this out I've never had another problem with it.

mine did the same on my '05 roadster. I had to have the latching mechanism replaced. Out of warranty of course. It happened a few times and would open after multiple unlock/lock thing, but then it wouldn't open at all. If yours is under warranty I would suggest getting it fixed while they pay for it. It was Hundreds of dollars.

Yeah, on my '05 roadster occasionally I have to press it twice for the lid to open. Don't know why but it's not broken. Always works on the second try.

AIG - depending on how you have your key fob set, the second push on the unlock button unlocks the passenger door and trunk. It is possible to set your key fob so that just one push opens everything. There was a thread on this just the other day - somewhere towards the top of the page.

We're talking about the trunk lid not the doors. Different thread and topic.

Yes , but the key fob does not operate the trunk lid. At least not on mine.

On my 2005 roadster that is the only way you can open the trunk. Does yours have a place to allow the key to open it? When the Fob wouldn't open it there is no way that I know of to open the fool thing.

Isn't it perhaps more accurate to say that the fob electronically locks and unlocks the latch, but a properly-functioning and unlocked latch is also required to mechanically open and close the trunk? From a locked position, both the fob and the latch need to work correctly, or the trunk cannot be opened.

Edit: I just noticed that this thread is in the Roadster section of the forum. The points I made above are true for the coupes, but perhaps the situation is different for the Roadster configuration....

If the fob won't actuate the locking mechanism......you might want to try the switch on the center console!

I have my fob set to one push unlocking everything and that works great. But, it still takes two clicks sometimes of the trunk handle, NOT the fob, to open the trunk lid.

Yes, This is an accurate statement.

If your doors are locked so is your trunk, and the only way to unlock it is the key fob unless of course you keep a little person in the trunk.

Well, I was all smug about a seemingly flawless Crossfire until today when the trunk wouldnt open.

I did repeat the fob unlock drill to no avail.

Tomorrow, or should I say later today (cant sleep) I shall try your suggestions.

Failing that, how does one get the trunk open?
