Chrysler to Replace '05 Convertible Tops Under TSB - YAHOO!!
I had the 2005 convertible top replaced by Chrysler 2 weeks ago. I am pleased with the results
I just hope it lasts this time? The Customer Service Department is to be credited with accomplishing this feat. The dealership tried to argue that the car was out of warranty when in fact it had a month left on the 7 year clause.
I just wish I could have had the transmission fixed by them 2 months ago but the dealership said it was out of warranty and I had it fixed by my mechanic. Chrysler will not reimburse me for that even though it was still under warranty. I am very upset about this issue and wonder if anyone has any suggestions on how to get my money back even though Customer Service said they tried to resolve that issue. Am I SOL?

We got the Crossfire back last night (Thursday).
WOW!!!!
What a difference, the top is gorgeous, tight as a drum, no wrinkles or puckers....
Only took a day and a half, wife is very pleased (we like this
)
Anyone in the Oklahoma City Metro, we highly recommend Bob Moore Chrysler on Northwest Expressway, to take your car to if you need the top replaced. Very helpful from day one, of course we did have our letter, but never had to even show them. Kudos to whom ever they used also, great job!!

Went to have my 05 Limited detailed today. The back window popped out while the crew was washing the glass. I’m not interested in going after them as my little girl has been living through SoCal summers (102-106) for the past few years. We went to the dealership. He looked up our VIN and stated there was not warranty available and he was not aware of any X31 extensions. So we came home and began looking through the XFire forum (THANK YOU ALL!!) for information to push the issue.
The forum provided contact numbers.
1-800-247-9753 customer service number (we call this one) and 1-800-993-1997.
#23-035-11 extends warranty bulletin for 10 years or 100,000 miles.
The Chrysler rep, Sean, was aware of the bulletin and referenced the destination states mentioned on the forum (Alabama, Louisiana, South Carolina, Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas) but stated he had no record of where our ’05 Limited originated from. Sean opened a case number and said a Case Manager will call in a couple days. Fingers crossed.
I am not a litigious man but there is something to be said to the idea when a company openly acknowledges a construction defect but limits remediation to only select destinations. I’m just saying…

Thanks for that inspiration. We bought our '05 Limited in the desert of Souther California (where we live) and I guarantee we have hotter weather than North Carolina (no offense NC!). We will press this issue....
I just noticed my window is separated from the convertible top on one side. I have a 2005 Roadster with 72,000 miles. I am a 2nd owner and as far as I know it was purchased originally here is Florida. This being Labor Day weekend I have to wait till Tuesday to speak with someone. Does anyone have any thoughts on my being eligible to get it fixed at no cost to me?
Okay...called chrysler...I DO qualify for x31 warranty...only valid on 2005 originally delivered in the southeast...fla, ga, alabama, miss, la, and parts of tx....no limit on ownership and as long as ita under 1000000 mi they are honoring it....mine was not onlyb the back glass but also the two main seems running along the sides of the top are brittle and separating...omg how could mercedes put seams together with only an adhesive? They took pictures and are ordering the top....supposed to call me with eta as soon as they know....I will keep all updated
I spent a few days reading every single post in this thread a couple months back, when I was washing my car and first noticed one corner of my back window was detached. This week I drove my car and kept hearing rattling, got out and noticed the entire bottom and both sides detached. I was so frustrated when reading everyone's posts, and like many, it made no sense why Chrysler would only honor certain states with this "extended warranty" fix. I found it pretty hopeless to try and reach out to Chrysler, seeing as how I live in Southern California. I was looking at replacement tops on eBay for $1,100, but finally decided to call my dealership and just ask.
I gave them the numbers found in the attachment xFireFlyx posted at the top of this thread page, and they were able to find the TSB no problem. They didn't mention anything about it only applying to certain states or VIN numbers. I brought my car to the dealership, they looked at it and saw how bad it was, and ordered a new top for me, which should be here in 5 business days....no deductible, nothing....absolutely no cost for me, except giving up my car for a day while they install it.
Again, I'm still frustrated for all of the people who haven't gotten anywhere with Chrysler, as there seems to be such inconsistencies with information from Chrysler Customer Care and certain dealerships. I didn't even call customer care....just my local dealer and there was no problems at all. If you are NOT in one of the Southern states customer care mentioned to you guys, I'd still continue to fight it....I'm perplexed as to how Chrysler can decipher heat in North Carolina or Florida as worse than say, Arizona or California? Just doesn't make sense, and this is obviously a well-known problem -- and a DEFECT, not normal 'wear and tear.'
Good luck to those of you still fighting. A lawyer friend of mine said that Chrysler would lose in a heartbeat if taken to court on this matter, seeing as how there is a ton of documented issues from hundreds of people.

I got approval for a new top from Chrysler and brought it to a local dealer a few days ago. I called the dealer today and was told the tops are on backorder and it has been months since thye have received any tops. They have other cars waiting also. I called Chrysler Customer Service and they are looking into this.
Chrysler opened the case but I've not heard anything from them yet. Still in hover mode....

Ok,so we had to take my wife's 05 in to the Dealership today, for the rear window separation issue...they say that the top is covered but it is going to cost us an additional $1611.00 in seals that are NOT covered that have to be replaced for the top replacement. Has anyone else experienced this ??

I had it done myself prior to all this hastle with Chrysler. Tell them you JUST need the window replaced, if your top is in decent condition. There are NO SEALS involved in the window replacement itself..

I still remain disgusted at Chryslers handling of this defect. it appears to be a crapshoot, depending on who you talk to in Chryslers customer service, and how good/bad your dealership is. My 'Chrysler sanctioned' repair is an eyesore, and the dealership that suggested the repair, and then refused to fix the mess that was created, has lost my business for life. Once the time comes to part with my current vehicles, I will not go within 100 miles of Chrysler, Jeep, Ram, Dodge, or Fiat again.
Just had mine replaced at Huffines Chrysler in Lewisville Texas. They did it in one day. Excellent service. Service Mgr said they have one left.
For you Dallas/Ft Worth Xfire fiolks, don't even think about taking your XFire to Grapevine Chrysler. The stupid lady service manager didn't believe it was sold by Chrysler! They are the same people that tried to sell me a $400 brake job on my Town and Country when I had just paiid an independent to do it 4 months earlier.
For a great independent in the Grapevine Texas area, Import car Center knows XFires and has a low dyno rate. They did an excellent job installing lowering springs although they couldn't get the camber in spec because he couldn't find the correct bolts. Does anyone know where the longer bolts can be purchased?
Thanks to everyone for making this a great forum! It has saved me a lot of money and a lot of headaches.

Did anyone here have their back window replaced due to adhesive failure instead of replacing the entire top? I'm hoping to get photos from someone of the work they had done on theirs... Chrysler did mine and it looks like a 12 year old did it with elmers glue.
Me too.................check out my thread entitled professional window repair ! .............it sucks !!!!!

I have a 2005 and my back window is 1/2 unglued (for lack of a better word.) I found this site and called Chrysler this a.m. Woman took my information - I am the third owner - dealer bought it first, then a person and now me. She told me that since my vehicle was shipped directly to Detroit, the warranty for the window did not apply. But, she has forwarded my information to a "case manager," who will review my information and call me within 24 hours. Hoping they will replace the whole top. Top is pristine, as is the rest of my baby car. This is the first problem I've had since I bought her just 2 weeks over 2 years ago.
Your site is awesome for Crossfires - thank you!
