I just called and ordered the part for my 05' Crossfire after receiving my letter. (I have attached a copy of the letter to this post.) The dealer said that there is now a national back order and it may be about 3 weeks to get the part.

My dealership is Huffines Jeep/Dodge in Plano, TX. They have always been very good to me and provided me with top notch service and never try to cheap out on me on repairs and warranty items and such. In fact they were going to replace my entire top for $250 after my rep went to bat for me a couple of months ago about the window falling out even though Chrysler initially said no f'ing way and wanted to charge me about $2,000. (At that time I of course opted for a $10 tube of Window Weld.)

Obviously I am in TX and I do have an extended warranty, but those of you that are not in Southern states should keep fighting or find a different dealer that wants the work. They get paid everytime they do a warranty repair right?? I would think they would all try to push it through as much as possible.

Anyway...Good Luck to the rest of you. I will post later when the work is done to let you know how it looks.

Thanks Max - I am honest! Even if I was interested in committing federal offenses for less than $2k, the receipt shows that it was paid by Geico. I don't think I can pass that receipt off as my Uncle Geico doing me a favor......

Thanks for sharing this info! I just registered my roadster at chrysler.com and also sent an email to customer service requesting the TSB paperwork.

I'm the second owner and the car was originally delivered to a Texas dealer, so it should be covered. No problems with my top yet, but my SRT-6 is now a northern car and is always garaged.

I contacted Chrysler Customer Service last week and was just told that my car was not covered, with no reason as to why it wouldn't be...here is their response:

"Dear Jon:

Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center.

Currently there is no extended warranty notice on the data base for your vehicle.

Although a more favorable reply could not be provided, sharing your concern with us is appreciated.

Thanks again for your email.

Sincerely,

Nick

Customer Service Representative
Chrysler Customer Assistance Center"

I purchased my car from Bonham Chrysler in Texas and was the first owner...so now I am in the process of trying to find out why I was denied and what tree I have to shake to get on the list.

Seems like we are right back where we started ie no idea why some VINs are approved and others are not. For awhile it looked like it was based on a requirement that the vehicle was originally delivered to a handful of southern states but this last post would indicate otherwise.

I called and both my SRT's are on the list. Also to note that both tops were previously replaced twice. The second time I had to pay for installation and Chrysler paid for the top.

They emailed me some information to be filled out on both cars and returned within 7 days. This was done and I am hoping for a refund for my cost for the installation.

Is it possible for the folks that did purchase their car in a state approved for the recall that when they bought it, the dealer traded it from another dealership? IE, the car was shipped from the factory to NYC. A Fla dealer wanted one and transfered it from NCY to Fla where it was sold as new?? Just wondering.

One thing I've gotten from this thread is there is no rhyme or reasoning on how Chrysler is determining who gets the top and who doesn't. I am the second owner, no extended warranty other than extending the 7 year drive train and a NE car since day one and I qualify. However, I have yet to receive a letter from Chrysler. So I have nothing in writing. I just called the local dealer and gave them the VIN &TSB #'s and the service department said I was covered to the 10th anniversary of the cars in service date. Aug 11, 2014. I dunno.

Hi My name is Jaden and I have been assigned as your Case Manager. Here is some information that will be helpful for you to have: Your Case Number: 21355272 Chrysler Case Management telephone Number: 800-763-8422 My direct extension: 66298 My work hours: 8 AM till 3:30 PM Mountain Standard Time. Monday-Friday I will contact you within one business day telephone to review your case

Note: This is a system generated message. Please do not reply.

Just got off the phone with Jaden, and he could give me no reason as to why my car wasn't covered, and seemed to be amazed that I actually knew people who had had a letter (Terry R). He is going to research it further and get back to me.
Seems that even Chrysler doesn't know what diferentiates a covered car from one that is not covered under their warranty .........Doh !

Update ...... Talked to Jaden again, and he still cannot give me a reason, other than it is VIN specific
I've asked him to take it higher.......... we'll see
I think we need to step up the calls/complaints, until they make this a blanket warranty ..........

i called and was told that my roadster was not covered.
no reason given.
maybe all us roadster owners should call only this jaden and flood his phone.

hitting up one chrysler contact might be the best way to go.

OK. I just followed up with this:

Dear Chrysler Customer care,
while I thank you for offering "Cost Assistance" in repairing/replacing the top/window of my 2005 Crossfire, even though I have been deemed "Excluded" I have to let you know that the "VIN Specific" (Original Delivery State) reason for excluding most roadster owners from this obvious defect is falling short of what one expects from Chrysler Corporation. I have spoken to a number of Crossfire Roadster owners of years 2005 through 2007 and have heard a number of complaints of this problem. Many either accepted delivery of their cars in the north (Non-hot states) or moved to the south after taking ownership and have been told they are excluded. I, on the other hand, have spoken to a couple of owners living in the north, whose cars have never been south of Indiana that ARE included, and have had this problem.
I respectfully request that this Warranty Extension be broadened to accept ALL Crossfire Roadster owners who develop problems with glass/fabric adhesion. This is only fair and equitable. For Chrysler to say "Your window fell out for a reason other than a defect" is not really defensible.
Please let me know what your supervisors have to say about this? Many inquiring minds want to know.

Sincerely, Max Cichon

Now, if everyone does something similar, maybe we'll get some "Push"?

Even the folks that are covered under X31 should write to Chrysler asking fairness to all victims of this horrible and tragic production defect, regardless of VIN or delivery destination.

Question: does it generally appear that only 2005 models are experiencing this problem? From the responses herein, it would seem so. Anyone?

Max, for best effort, what contact name, address, etc. would you recommend that we use? And for what it's worth, my feeling is that hard copy letters are always more effective than email. Or tweets. Or texts.

I think what your seeing here is in 2007 a lot of crossfires and srt6's were coming off Chrysler executive leases and went to auction for sale then were sent to dealers around the country so cars sold in the south necessarily wasn't there original destination.

That could well be, and I tried to reason with the Chrysler rep, about the delivery state being redundant, it should be the state it was registered in, but all I got was ........'it's VIN specific' ..........but what makes those VIN's qualify ? .........'don't know' was the reply
