Thanks everyone for the info, been on a short vacation in Costa Rica, we'll be on it this week. Does anyone know if the hydraulic reservoir has a sensor. Here is where I'm going, would a low fluid level cause the top buzzer to sound? Next question, Is there code that will help when OBD2 is pluged in. Thank, sorry I did not check out.
There is no sensor, visual marks on the reservoir only.
The top module can generate DTC's starting with 9006 and above.

The latest advice from pizzaman was to see if the windows go down when the top release handle is turned and the top is popped. Windows do not go down, need a micro switch that is located in or on the top of the windshield frame. Any source and a part number would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob
Do both windows go down/up if you press the top switch 2 times rapidly in either direction ( up if they are down and vice-versa ) ?
The test morning was suggesyed by pman, start car ,top is up and locked, windows up.
Then, turn top release handle and pop up the top ,and the windows do not go down.
Continuef tp let the top cycle and on stoe position, the windows csme up and the trunk is unlocked.Yes I lowered the windows before tje top began to cycle. Any thoughts?
The test is to determine if the switch in the windshield is OK. APPEARS FAULTY.

It then sends a message to the BCM ( Body Control Module ) to lower both windows via the CAN bus.
This same functionality can be tested by pressing the top down switch 2 times rapidly if the windows are up, or the top up switch rapidly 2 times if the windows are down.
If that test fails, no need looking into the "D" handle switch ( Top Closed Switch )
That is a great piece of diagnostic info. WANT TO GET A SERVICE MANUAL,ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE. THANKS, LET U KNOW SHORTLY.

OK, sitting in car, top down ,windows down. Engone off, key on, punch top switch 2 times and the windows go up about 1 inch
and stop.
and stop.
Do the windows work OK with the windows switches ?
Seems like the BCM is getting and understanding the message on the CAN bus, but not finishing the task.
Yes , the windows work fine with the window switch, is there a obd ll read out for top diagnostics. I heard about a tool dvr ?.. Having been on the sales and marketing side when DiamlerChrysler introduced the car, never got involved with service issues. Thanks for the help, too much fun😁

You have to tell it that the car is a 2004 MB SLK320, it found some old SRS codes that it reset that I wasn't even aware of, along with some engine codes that I had caused, but found no body codes.
All the top P codes are under the body category in the SRT6 service manual.
No, I don't have an SRT6, but that manual is the only one with convertible top info.
Soooo, sounds like I need additional diagnostics with a specific tool. What it does not
appear to be are faulty switches, what say you?

I don't have to do that Greg, just 2 quick clicks and it does the job.
Maybe cause I have the "one touch mod" ?????

The biggest frustrations I have with trying to help people is first, most never post back and say "I tried your suggestion and it didn't work or did work" so you can go forward with another suggestion and second most never post back and say how it worked out and what solution worked. Being a mechanic myself and having dealt with repair shops there are generally multiple possibilities. It is not always black and white and I've always found going the simplest. cheapest and easiest step first and then working your way through is the best and least expensive
way to go.
way to go.I'm looking at a yellow Crossfire outside my house right now with 46,000 miles that will end up being traded in at a dealer or parted out because the convertible top is completely un-serviceable and now the trunk is locked and won't open.
