convertible top locked, intermittent buzzer while driving
Not sure about that. I have the Launch CRP123 OBDII scanner and I just ran a full suite on my roadster with it.
You have to tell it that the car is a 2004 MB SLK320, it found some old SRS codes that it reset that I wasn't even aware of, along with some engine codes that I had caused, but found no body codes.
All the top P codes are under the body category in the SRT6 service manual.
No, I don't have an SRT6, but that manual is the only one with convertible top info.

Take it to a dealer if necessary, pay the money and learn the possible problem.
I know you're not talking about me because I always come back with "that suggestion didn't work" but then people just keep telling me the same thing over and over.
I'm looking at a yellow Crossfire outside my house right now with 46,000 miles that will end up being traded in at a dealer or parted out because the convertible top is completely un-serviceable and now the trunk is locked and won't open.

It might be an easy fix but certainly the least aggravating way to deal with it is to just junk it.
Is it a manual? Got a clean title? Maybe I could get it hauled off for you.
Probably so.. "double tap" and hold.. raise or lower to desired position and release... I'm gonna guess if you hit it a 3rd time your windows would stop.. ?
If the windows are working as described.. TCM is sending signal to BCM for window control .. failure to lower when turning the "D" handle seems to strongly point to the switch in the header at this point..

DIY testing option.. pull yours and test switch for continuity ..

Just hit the top switch with 2 taps, holding down the second tap and the windows go up and also down on the second hold. Looks as if the windshield header switch is the source, everyone in agreement? Thanks RB
In regards to "D-ring release won't lower windows" it might not be the header switch.
If you have skinny fingers you can activate the header switch by hand without disassembly. On my car the switch works fine but the D-ring doesn't lower windows and I have all sorts of other issues. "Windshield header switch" is a common broken-record response on this forum but I have never seen any evidence of one actually failing, being replaced, and fixing top problems. Not a single time.

Well, I sorta feel the same way and going in to a Chrysler store that was on my rounds several years ago when gainfully employed with DiamlerChrysler.Other than an OBD2, is there a seperate device to diagnose the top faults? Thanks, RB
Second thought.. maybe you are correct.. should we just advise purchase a new PTCM? No sense in chasing and checking the little things first right? SMDH
Great news! You can manually activate or deactivate the switch (is pushed in closing the circuit or opening it?) Which achieves nothing other than the switch is still there.. Does manually pushing it tell you if the circuit component (contacts) are not broke or corroded?
- Turning the D handle does not result in the windows going down.
- ALL OTHER functions of the top system work fine.
Of course, the problem is finding a new switch. I've never actually seen the switch itself, given that it is hidden. I suspect MCM Electronics or Digikey has a switch that could be used, but first you must have the bad one in hand in order to identify what you need.
I suppose one could grab one from a junked car at a salvage yard.
