Default Is it possible to bypass sensor in trunk for top open/close?

I am not sure if this is even possible or not, which is why I am asking the experts.

For the sensor in the trunk that allows the top to open/close when the storage hatch is in place, is it possible to add a bypass switch to this?

It may sound like a silly question, but I want to add a subwoofer in trunk and don't want the vibrations to knock the hatch or sensor out of place, stopping me from opening the trunk.

I would like to add some kind of override switch (or timed relay) to avoid issues.

Any ideas?

(Thanks in advance)

Keep the vibrations down, because when you get to my age you will realize that hearing aids are more expensive than speakers.

I hear ya!!
(Sorry for the bad pun)

First, I sincerely hope I get to reach your age, although 180 sounds like an awful lot

I also have no intention of going deaf, at least not on purpose. I have been doing live sound and pro AV now for 25 years nearly, and at one point I did lose a large percentage of my hearing. I was very lucky that my hearing recovered (1 in a 1000 I'm told) and do not wish to damage it again.

Having said that, the intention for the subwoofer in the trunk is to help avoid just that.

With the top down, at speeds over 50, it is practically impossible to hear anything below 120Hz without absolutely blasting the system. In order to not have to do such things, the easiest solution (that I have come up with, I am always open to ideas) is to place low mids closer to the listener (a low mid driver in the center) and add a subwoofer in the trunk in order to add the low rumble that will be missing.

Please note that vibration, which is literally all that will be coming from the trunk, does not damage hearing, it is the high dB that does the damage.

I am not one to play music at deafening levels (been there, done that) and this is something that will be adjusted depending on road noise. However, I am a big music fan and I do like all the frequencies to be present (which is currently not the case over 50).

So... do you know if it is in anyway possible to override the sensor?

To override the partition sensor, just wire a switch across it and close the switch.
Don't blame me if you lower the top onto something crushable in the trunk

LOL, you mean I can't send you a bill for any damage I do by being stupid??

Seriously though...

I was thinking of adding a timed relay instead of a switch, which the button would bypass the sensor for 1 minute or so, that way I can't "forget" to switch it back to normal.

So, just a simple jumper will work, no need for any specific resistance or anything?

(Oh, and thanks ala_xfire)

I have jumpered that switch several times on various cars to get the top to work.
You can also jumper the 'roof opened' switch, which is in series with this one.
