Default Convertible top latch

I know I dont really post on here but my 05 convertible when raising the top, I have to press down the top to snap it into the match on top of the truck every time. Is it suppose to be like that or is it suppose to latch automatically? Thanks I’m advance

I suggest you download the owners manual here and read it. That is normal, you pull it down while in the driver seat.

No, it should be automatic. I'd try some lubrication of that mechanism on the underside of the lid. I've owned three Roadsters, never had the issue but I do know others have had this trouble.

I think the post refers to the bow latch in the deck lid.

thank you for that! I didn’t think it was right so I figured I’d ask before digging into. Wd-40 or do you recommend something else?

Yes this is correct. I know how to work the top of the convertible. I’m referring to the deck lid latch

I would think a light lithium grease would be best, but the service manual says NOTHING about it.

And there is a possibility that the cylinder itself is bad - WD40 might give you a clue that lubrication is the answer.

No worries! I probably could have been a little more descriptive too.
