Convertible top d ring button

Convertible top d ring button

Hi there. My wife's car, a 2005 roadster, had the button on the d-ring pop out and go flying. I found a spring but no button. The d-ring will not release and turn (unless I use a small screwdriver to release)? Any ideas or solutions to fix? Thanks in advance.

BTW I also have a 2005 Roadster, the button on my car is frozen in the closed position. I did not realize it was a button until Iwe got my wife's car.

Strange, I've had my roadster since 2006 and have always just turned the D ring to release and just push up. I honestly never read the chapter on top operation. I see now it does mention a release button. My button not move but the top release works fine. What is the purpose of the button? I guess I don't need it?

Well I found the missing button. It seems a c clip let go. Here is a picture of the button, spring, and a replacement c clip.
