the last top i ordered took 3 weeks to get. i might buy a few to try and avoid that in the future, wish i knew about this group buy earlier. FWIW i have been installing these tops for $1250 installed. installers in my town charge $1700+ for a electron top and the BAS top is much nicer!

$650 labor?

I have GOT to stop giving away my technical help, advice and knowledge. In fact, I pretty much have - I've stopped most of my posting on the Crossfire FB pages and I no longer take phone calls about helping people with their car.

If someone wants my time on the phone, it's $60 per hour, payable via PayPal in advance.

last op i ordered was a couple months ago, i believe it was closer to $900 shipped to me. i didn't know about the discount . My new to me 05 will need a top soon, this takes the sting out a little. I'm waiting to hear back from Rebecca on the price for one top and the price for bulk.

Hopefully mine comes that quickly. I ordered one a couple days ago and haven't been charged yet.

I'll need it soon.

You do not need "expertise". I just did mine 2 weeks ago after receiving the new top from BAS. I had never used a pop rivet gun in my life.
Just watch the video on youtube over and over again and when you are actually changing your top, take your time.
Installing the new top is even easier than what is shown on the video (which is great btw). Remember that the top frame can be moved. Whenever you feel something is not easily accessible, just play with the open/close button to change the frame geometry.
As mentioned, you need to buy a pop rivet tool, which is cheap.
If you buy it from Harbor Freight like I did, go for the one that has an assortment of rivets included.
As much as I liked the top from BAS, I did not like the pop rivets that came with it.
Originally, the rivets are two different sizes (diameter) on our cars: small - large - small - large, from front to back. On the other hand, all rivets from BAS are the same size (small).
I ended up using the BAS rivets for the small size because they have a longer head, which is needed, but I used different rivets for the large size. They were shorter but that's OK for the large ones.
Long story short, I believe you need two sets of rivets: small diameter long head and large diameter short head.
That being said, a lot of people have done it before and never complained about the rivet thing...

I received my top from BAS in 3 weeks from placing the order. Like pizzaguy, I live in a hot humid area and will be waiting for cooler weather to install the top, which I plan on doing myself. Will post a pic of the completed project.

I received my new and beautiful blue top within 8 days from the time i ordered (i live in the east coast and shipping from the UK was 2-3 days by DHL. It is a bit crazy at work and I decided to have the new top professionally installed and it looks great. I went with dark blue. Subtle difference between black and dark-blue, but dark blue looks elegant and complements the car's beautiful SSB color.

PS i dont know why but the installer said not to open the top for about a week until the fabric fully stretches in.

i suggest not storing the car with the top down for about a month, other than that use as normal.

I successfully installed my new BAS top over the weekend. The instructions that are in a STICKY are very good. A couple of additional tips: only pull the front rubber seal back far enough to be able to drill out the pop rivet. There is no rivet under the center seal don't remove it. The back seal will need to be fully removed as there are two rivets. Also note the position of how the straps attach to the frame; my front ones were different, they actually wrapped under the frame...see below. There are a number of clips on the bottom of the top where it attaches to the frame. You will need to remove these carefully and reuse them if your top came from BAS. Use a small flat head screwdriver to pry off. On the new top line up where they were on the old top and once in place crimp with a pair of pliers. You do not need to remove the rivet on the pad strap unless you are replacing them; mine were fine. You will need to have assistance with someone holding the pad down on the frame so you can slide the top off; this applies to the back frame channel only. The hardest part for me was getting the rubber seals back in the frame.

When you are finished and need to secure the top with the D ring I needed to pull the top down at each corner, with assistance on the right side, in order to lock the top; it is very taut. As noted above you should leave the top up for a month when not driving as the top needs to stretch.

I washed it the next day and the top beads up like multiple coats of 303 were applied. Very pleased with BAS International top, highly recommend them when you need to replace yours.
