Default New owner with some questions

My wife just bought a black 2005 Base Roadster 6 speed. It needs some TLC. I’ve already replaced the power window switches, and the power mirror switch in the console. I replaced the stereo and have new speakers on order. I tried to search but can not find the answers I’m looking for. The top will not go down automatically. The divider panel is in place and when I unlatch the top the windows go down and the led in the switch flashes and the chime beeps. What is the next thing I should look for? The reservoir is full of fluid.

I also ordered a MBII scanner that should be here tomorrow because the ESP/BAS light is on. Being that it is a base model does it still have TPMS sensors installed in the wheels?

Check the "top released switch", it is in the frame just above the passenger's right ear.
No TPMS in the base model.

Hey guys, I didn’t want to start a new post but I also am a new owner of an 05 base roadster. I just brought her home on Fri and checked all the mechanical things but did not check the gas cap...while going over her in the garage (Ohio winters) I noticed the missing cap. My question is, why didn’t the CEL alarm make me aware of this? Could the dealership jabs disabled something? They had to know since they filled it before I left. It is going to my mechanic on Wednesday to have her looked over and winterized . Just curious as to why it didn’t alert me

Why not take it back to the dealer? It is probably illegal to sell a car without a gas cap because of pollution rules and fixing the CEL so it shows no error would be even worse.

Thank you...I already planned to contact them but I will also look at the legal ramifications as well

Could be. My concern isn’t the missing cap it’s the CEL not picking up on it... could I have driven it @60miles without it coming in?

I have two other vehicles that the owners and OEM shop manuals say that the CEL (or equiv.) would light if the gas cap was missing or loose, neither have lit when I tested that. I suppose the EVAP system might have some problem but I am not sure the EVAP system affects the performance of the car or the milage of the car. It sure doesn't on my other two vehicles (one a 2001 Ford and the other a 2002 Chevy). Anyway, I haven't heard of this problem before, hope you can find out if there is a problem. Good luck!

It's probably a hanging offence in California.

So I hooked up the iCarsoft MB II and came up with these codes:
p1175
p1178
p1410

i can’t find them anywhere online. I cleared them and the ESP/BAS went out until I turn the steering wheel.

added bonus, when I cleared the codes the ABS light came on and I can’t clear it... any pointers?

Check in the trunk that the divider panel is properly in place for the top to go into. When this pannel is in the correct slot it also must be pulled up and it will lock into place.

You might want to read up on the "Evaporative Control System", the pressure test only happens if fuel is between 1/4 and 3/4 full. There are other parameters that must be agreed upon as well, but I don't remember what they are.
