Convertible Top Sensors
Hello, this is the problem I am experiencing. 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Convertible. The first thing is my door locks, when using the remote you can hear the solenoid actuate but the doors do not unlock. Then at the same time the top button is flashing, and the top is fully closed. When I turn the handle, the windows do move down but the top does not move. The inside lights do not come on when the doors are opened. The same day this all started when I went to fill up the locking gas door will not open. I joined this forum a awhile back and have been having this problem since, I believe in 2021. Back then I did find on this site where to get the micro switch and purchased one but personal family problems put me on hold for a while until now. I cannot find that switch I purchased so will have to find and get another one. If there are any suggestions as to what to do next, I really would appreciate them
Door locks do not work + top button flashes + windows go down, then nothing + no interior lights on door opening = CLP/SSM
The FIRST THING I would do is:
1) Tear all trim from the trunk.
2) Dig down on the passenger side and pull the CLP/SSM out of its insulation blanket.
3) Unplug EVERY connector and look at the male and female pins as well as all surfaces - are things wet? If not wet, is there ugly corrosion on the connectors?
If there is water damage, you have two options:
OPTION 1:
Cut the wiring harness up about 2-3 feet from the CLP/SSM, throw away the wiring and connectors you cut off.
Grab the CLP/SSM and throw it in the trash as well.
Now, go find the CLP/SSM and last 2-3 feet of wiring harness from another roadster, install all of it, if the top won't move, re-sync it as described in my video.
OPTION 2:
Let the module and cables "dry out" for a few days.
Use alcohol to "clean" all mating surfaces.
PUt things together, if it all works, you have 1-12 months before you must do option 1. (You see, the corrosion in the crimps and on the boards in the module is still growing, you can't stop it.)
If there is NO water intrusion, we have a lot of work to do to get to the bottom of this.
Thanks, neighbor! I would like to send you a PM. I live just north of FW (Robson Ranch Resort, Denton). I have a 2005 SRT-6 Roadster currently in storage with sick top hydraulics. Ed WheelerText 8172713423 Not going to ask for help on anything. Would just like to meet sometime.
Thanks for the PM. The problem I started having with my 2005 Crossfire Limited convertible is that my door locks wouldn't work, you can hear the solenoids click but the locks did nothing. Next the roof switch just flashes. I checked the switch at the D-handle and the one above the passenger, both are working. Then the inside lights quit working and the lock on the gas door. Before all this I bought a 2005 Limited in Detroit on a Saturday, drove it back to where I live, Eastlake, Ohio. Monday morning on my way to work, a girl tried to beat the red light and hit and demolished it.I got to know the owner of the scrap yard and he let me swap all the module cards from the wrecked one to this one I have now, still no change with the problems listed. My girlfriend has a cousin that works at a foreign car shop the specializes in Mercedes. They had it almost a week with no repair. He said that they could communicate with only the engine not any of the other modules. So that is where I am at with my sick top hydraulics., What kind of problems are you having?
