I vaguely remember quite a while ago, when someone had a cylinder sensor in the wrong place (reversed?). Also, I am sure you would have checked all the connectors for any loose or open wiring? Have you downloaded the service manual for troubleshooting/tips regarding the sensor/wiring? It (service manual) is in the document collection that you can download. Good luck!

And they used WHAT to read the positions of the sensors? I've owned three roadsters in twelve years, only ONE shop had the ability to read such sensors.
If what you are being told is accurate, then the Power Top Control Module (PTCM) is bad.

And while we are talking about service manuals, just know that the 2008 version has the most detailed information on the top system. I have an electronic version of the top chapter of that manual. It is not here on CFF, so I will try to attach it below.

According to both mechanics they have the computer that can talk to the top module, what it is I have no idea. I will download the service manual and go that route to see what happens. I will try on changing the sensors around in different combinations. I also noticed that the trunk was not closing all the way I will adjust it today when I get off and see if that helps. Thanks again for all of the help.

It has been awhile but I changed out all the cylinders on my limited roadster and I seem to remember it would be hard to mix up sensor locations. The wire harnesses position the sensors where they need to be. I agree that there must be a sensor or hose reinstalled in the wrong position. I also think if any attention at all was paid during disassembly it would be hard to mix up hose connections. PTCM seems like a long shot and quite a coincidence.

Just for an FYI, the OP never mentioned the top working before he did the work he mentioned. I did notice he mentioned he had just got the car in his OP. I wondered if someone else had tried to work on it, or not.

If the trunk is not closing all the way I believe there is a sensor that prevents the top from opening/closing to prevent damage. So that is most likely your problem.

I believe if that were the cause the system would not even start to work.

Well guys tonight I played with the top. I tried every different combination with the sensors and still in the same thing. In all the different combinations it does the exact same thing, the only time the light goes solid is when the tonneau cover is all the way in the up position. Any ideas I'm in the process of trying to get another mechanic but it's not easy to find someone who is willing to take this on.

By the way guys are these sensors only exclusive to the crossfire or do the Mercedes also have the same sensors. My idea is to find a Mercedes mechanic That has a computer that can read the sensor positions.

I have been led to believe that a European mechanic with diagnostic equipment for a Mercedes (SLK-320 roadster where out system came from) could read the top system. If anyone else knows for sure feel free to chime in? Good luck!

The Mercedes roadsters are retractable hardtops, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Ok guys no one here in Miami has a clue about this top. Does anyone have a schematic of the sensors I will just follow it and make sure the sensors are in the correct place.

Pizza guy’s last post has a lot of great information as usual and the service manual is located on this forum as well. Good luck!

Ok guys finally found the problem, well Miami Matt figured it out. One of the cylinders was defective. The sensors could not detect the movement of the cylinders. Replaced the bad cylinder and now it's working.
