DUO VALVE / HEATER CONTROL VALVE REBUILD. PART 1 of 3
Svengoolie finds the key to Skull Island! February 25, 2025
My car has been blowing warm air through the vents. I've already replaced the blower motor resistor so I thought I would rebuild the Duo Valve.
Remember; safety is the main priority!
This how I did the work on my own car. This is for reference only.
Here are the usual pictures with descriptions.

Svengoolie is bracing for adventure! March 10, 2025
The new body braces arrived. Unfortunately only 2 of the 4 are usable. Luckily I had refurbished them (see post above).
The good thing is the front 2 were the worst and I can use the new ones.

Svengoolie is getting ready to chill! March 19, 2025
I'm removing the climate control unit to send it out for repairs for a bad potentiometer in the fan speed control.
I'd like to thank pizzaguy, GraphiteGhost and zip439 for their help in resolving the issues I was having.

@M60A3Driver John how about going to the first post #1 and edit it. Add another paragraph or two with page numbers for the first post of each one of your write up subjects. It would be an index so those in need can find your info quickly. I just spent twenty minutes looking for a water pump replacement. Ha Ha, there is another idea for you!

That's a great idea @zip439
When I get some extra time I'll do that.
Thanks,
John
UPDATE:
The first post in this thread now contains links to all of the "How To's" that I have done on my car.
They are located below the pictures of Svengoolie. I will continue to add the links to future posts there.
Now members won't have to search the whole thread to find what they are looking for. Although I hope you will keep following the journey!

George,
Mark did a great job rebuilding the unit. The fan speed is working, no more warm air. The real test for the a/c will be in a couple of months.
Thanks for your help with the advice about the control *****. What a mess that would have been!

Yeah, when I pulled mine off many many years ago I did notice the keyed slots in the two shafts coming out the airbox. I did not temp fate by turning any of the shaft positions because I was concerned they might have moved differently and THAT would have thrown off the geared sequential action of the right **** in the head (the duct selection ****). Glad you got it all together, & posted another GREAT tutorial with "Svengoolie".
I put split wire loom tubing over the dashboard HVAC shafts to help me align the HVAC Control Module shafts when I re-installed the unit. Worked really well.

Yeah - And there is no need to remove the split wire loom tubing. Leaving it in place does no harm & just means it will be there if the task has to be repeated in the future.
Since I've had 3 fuses go bad, I've verified they were bad with an ohm meter, I went ahead and replaced all of the fuses with new ones.
This includes the spares. I also keep spare fuses in my tool bag as a precaution. This is what I have decide to do with my car. I'm not telling anyone what to do with their car.
