Be My Eyes and Ears...
Considering my car is pretty much ruined, I'll probably be trying to get another SRT-6. I know I'll take a bath on the deal, but this is the best car I've owned, so I would like to get a do-over if possible. Anyone here know of a nearly new silver one sitting on a lot still?
I've tried cars.com and only found a few in silver with less than 6000 miles on them, but would really like to score another unused one again if possible. The one that was just wrecked had 47 miles on it when I bought it. Let me know if anyone knows of one. Only interested in saphire silver blue.
Thanks guys.

Sorry about your SRT, been following your other thread.
If you do end up getting rid of your SRT, please post the VIN so that no one on the forum unknowingly ends up with it in their driveway.
It would make a great parts car for your next SRT......
I sure hope that everything works out for you, either with your current SRT or your new one....Good Luck

Might be an irrelevant issue. Allstate is saying they "don't honor" diminished value claims. This is sure to turn into a long drawn out legal battle, where all my winnings are given to the lawers for legal fees. I'll start looking for a car IF I ever actually get any money.

This is the one I told you about, with about 175 miles on it, but I remember now when I took it out for a Drive, it had a minor front bumper dent & it isn't kept in the Showroom anymore.

I shot him a private message asking for advice. I really dont want this to be reduced to me having to sue the girl that hit me. I'm not sure I have the "self preservation instinct" to go through with that. She has a disabled son to deal with, so she doesn't need a court telling her she owes some guy $8000 on top of her own troubles from the wreck, etc. Then everybody loses, cuz even if she found a way to come up with the money, I pay a good portion of the money to lawyers for legal fees, and then I'm still upside down on the car.
In my opinion, she did her part by owning up to the fault in the accident...and she will be paying back the money her insurance company gives me through increased premiums...the insurance company needs to pay me the money here, and recoup it from her over time.

$19,911 Certified. The car is also very clean for having a few miles on it. I can promise that price through New Years. The Labor Day Sale ad in the cars for sale section has all of the current Inventory. I've updated prices on the 1st post.

You wouldn't want to deal with that Dealer, in my opinion.
Atom,
That insurance company is just feeling you out...you just got the shark-like 'bump' and depending on how you react will decide whether they come back for the kill or leave you be.
A lot of people will take the first offer from insurance and not even think twice. A lot of it is due to pure ignorance, but some people just don't want the hassle. It is amazing how you pay insurance every month without thinking twice...and the one time you need them they try to screw you.
Stand strong against them and decline their offers until you feel happy and content. It is time consuming and sucks...but you have to do it. Also, demand a rental car and make sure to see a doctor. Hold onto that rental until you are happy - it costs them money and they wont want to pay for it for long. Mention mental anguish, lawyers, etc...they love that. Play their game and you'll win.

He's right about the insurance companies. I had to hold out once on a totaled vehicle until they agreed to pay off my loan and $500 above that for a down payment for another vehicle. Hang in there!!
I agree with ShawnQ that you will need to push her insurance company for a fair settlement. So her company doesn't want to pay for diminished value, then kindly inform the company that you have all sorts of aches and pains and will be needing to see a specialist on a daily basis. On their dime of course. Oh dear! You'll also be missing work on a daily basis but no problem - her company can pay for lost wages. And let's not forget the mental anguish this has caused you. Why you could be looking at years of therapy. But at least you'll be able to get around in that nice, expensive rental that they WILL provide you because of the actions of their client. And don't forget to mention a lawsuit against their client. After all, guess what insurance company will have to pay for legal defense?
Illegal? Well not if you actually seek medical care. Unethical? Perhaps, but the driver that hit you pays her company to fiscally safeguard her AND take care of you. She will get a premium increase. You are going to lose out on thousands of dollars. Now who is the victim here?
As for suing the other driver - if this is the last recourse then do it. I'm going to be real cold blooded about this - it doesn't matter if her kid is disabled or not. By your description she illegally drove through an intersection while yapping on a cell phone with her son riding with her. If a disabled child is such an additional burden then I'd expect that burden be reflected iin her driving. It was not, and you shouldn't have to suffer for it. At least she did owe up that the accident was her fault so she gets a pat on the back for that.

Brent,
That is exactly what I was GOING to say but I didn't want to get over aggressive until some one countered me with a 'you are being too harsh' reply.
You said what I meant...
Guess what - the $6-8K you are upside down wont leave any more room for lint in the insurance companie's pocket. Don't think twice about holding off and demanding what you need.
She hit you - her fault, no questions. Now, they take care of you because they represent the person at fault. It is really simple. Sadly, THOUSANDS of people get scammed annually by these insurance pirates.
I've only dealt with one claim and luckily it went smooth. A friend of mine had a mustang wrecked and he had to fight for a few months, literally. He had a rental car for most of that time - and almost daily chiropractor visits. I can only imagine what it cost the Insurance company versus what it WOULD HAVE cost if they would just settle for what he asked for. They lost money...idiots.

Well I'll be the first to claim that I'm overly harsh - but I also consider my stance to be practical. AtomHeart either has to lose $7-8K due to the actions of Allstate's client or fight for it. Allstate obviously is not going to play nice guy so just as obviously AtomHeart can't either.
Posted too quickly and didn't add the following:
AtomHeart, I think you should try to get your 6 totaled and buy another one. I know it was a present from your wife and it would hurt to give it up. But it would hurt even more if it couldn't be repaired perfectly and had all the problems you are concerned about. Besides, you and your wife could look for a replacement together.
And whatever settlement you get from Allstate it doesn't hurt to ask for a couple of thousand for pain and suffering. This is a very, very reasonable request and as ShawnQ has pointed out a few thousand to an insurance company is absolutely nothing.
