Let me see if I can put this in perspective. The vendor sent you the wrong part (his bad), but was/is willing to send you the correct part, and compensate you for the shipping? So far so good?
You send him the original part that your mechanic broke (your bad) and you want a full refund for the broken part? Why should the vendor eat that? I think your mechanic should eat that. No one told him to take it apart.

You are mad because you had to pay to have the original part taken out and re-installed. (I think the vendor should eat that cost as he was at fault for sending you the wrong part)

Do I have it right?

My god....relax......I was simply stating my opinion. I understand you're upset, but why do you need to jump down my throat?

If you ordered a NEW part, and later found out it was torn apart by an incompetent mechanic, then put into a vice and hammered back together, you'd be alright with that?

First the part is not broken, but taken apart. I never asked for a full refund as a matter of fact i never asked for anything. I was expecting to just get another Tstat that fit, case closed. Trust me when I say he (TVT) wasn't this accomodating in the phone call that led up to this. I got inconvenienced with you sending me the wrong part now you get inconvenienced and put the tstat back together. Am I wrong, YES, is he wrong, yes. When both partys have wrong the vendor should in good custmoer service realize he is the reason all this went down and just send out a new T stat without me having to pay twice for it. Sorry for inconveniencing you TVT with having to put the stat back together, but consider what I have been through, YOUR CUSTOMER!

In the time it has taken to put this entire thread together I would imagine someone like HDDP could have rebuilt an entire engine with all the mods included. What a good read for a person with too much free time on their hands.
The one thing I learned here is I won't be replacing my thermostat anytime soon

Now that I refunded your money, how would you like this to be fixed?

I am not paying you the 75.00 the mechanic charged you to install a thermostat. If you had to drain all the coolant, then yes I would pay, but the coolant was already completely out of the system for your other mods. How much would removing 2 bolts and then putting two bolts back in cost? If your mechanic still quotes you 75.00 for that, please find a new mechanic that isn't cheating you so badly.

Don't base your decision to avoid TVT on this experiance. Others have been vary happy with TVT_DESIGN.

I will second that statment. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have the TVT thermostat also. After this was brought up here, TVT emailed me to check my part and what the differences were. I have the same part the BlueMsrt6 had. TVT is sending me the replacement part that is correct and I will return the one I have. They fixed the problem when they knew there was one. No harm, no foul.

TVT there is nothing you can do to fix this at this point. I never once asked you to pay for my install so please stop mentioning it like that was something I have ever asked you for. The only thing I wanted was a T stat that fit, nothing more. The only fix at this point is us never doing business with each other.

[quote=SRT6 Dan]I see both sides but, I must side with the customer, 1st you sent him the wrong part and he proceeded to try to install it. You can't see that it's wrong until you remove your own thermostat 1st RIGHT. Therefore send him the right one and eat the wrong one ![/quote
DITTO !!!!

I had a good experience with TVT but I am now concerned. I bought a Thermostat from them, LET had my car and had already installed a new Thermo. I sent my part back and got a refund, no questions. But I now see the TVT Thermo shown in the pics and my thermostat looked like a stock thermostat with 3 holes drilled in it. Literally, it had 3 holes drilled in it for increased flow and was very different from the one I see it the pics.
This is an old school hotrod trick and I was surprised to see it on such a modern car.

Can someone please explain this? Is this the way a 180 Thermostat is created?

I will use TVT for bling but again but I'm confused.

For the question, the customer is right, eat it and send him the right parts and TVT pay attention next time. This caused a ton a crap for the customer who did nothing wrong but to try and make it work. He is not a parts person, he expected the part to be right and it cost him the cost of the labor and that is your fualt TVT, make it right.
