Default need help on needswing intake intsall

it sort of vague where it says "move passenger side horn to drivers side with new bracket.

where do you bolt the new bracket to? if you bolt it on top of the drivers side horn bracket the wires are too short and the 2nd bolt is too short

also, the 90 degree rubber elbow will not go over the throttle body. i tried a little liquid soap and it still does not fit.

Mine came with a dvd, if you did not get one I can send it to you tommorow or walk you through it by phone when I get to my shop in the morning, pm me and let me know. I have installed a few of them for myself and friends.

Replace the driver side horn bracket with the new one. If you undo the grommet/horn wire, it will reach over to the new bracket hole.

The rubber elbow takes some time to get right. It will fit, but you might have to wrestle with it for a little while. Try doing the bottom first, then the top.

Hope that helps.

The wires will reach. I think there is a little retaining clip that holds them down. The brack replaces the factory one. One you get the wires free it will make sense. The Elbow is a PAIN, but it will go on. Like RPM said, start at the bottom and work around. I thought he had revised the instructions, but maybe not. I know they were a little vague when i was working with the prototype one during R&D trials...

I always use KY Jelly to get things into tight holes...

On a serious not since it's made of rubber try squeezing it through...mine fit in easy that way...

LoL, you know it Chi

It's like screwing a virgin. It takes some work and maybe some lube, but it will go in eventually.

I got a cd with a pdf file but no video, was there supposed to be 2 cd's?

I got it all together minus the horn, the battery went dead on the laptop so i am just now reading your posts lol.

I took it for a drive (thought the whine would be louder) and when I came back the rubber elbow on the throttle body slipped back some. I loosened the clamp, tightened it again then watched it slowly slip back again. Any thoughts? The lip on the throttle body is small so there is not much room to clamp it on. I loosened it up again, tightened it again and it slowly slid back again. Not enough to pop off but I would bet when I go outside in the morning it will be further off again. Do you think I am tightening the clamp too much?

If you guys could email me the video or give me a link to download it that would be great.

This is funny seeing as how I have torn down motors, installed superchargers, piggy back fuel tuners, fuel pumps, transmissions and so on but this little elbow is driving me crazy lmao.

Thanks

I'm not sure how tight you are putting the clamp down........you may try a little looser.

Remember, that engine is going to try to suck the tube in......not blow it off.

On a seperate note........this is FP and my type of thread........lots of stuff like suck, blow, virgin, KY jelly, and tight holes.

yes the new bracket replaces the drivers side horn bracket.

to get the rubber 90 onto the tb, i get the far side over the tb and then reach inside the couple and you can work it the rest of the way over the tb. if yours is still too tight let m k now tomorrow and we can exchange it for ya.

I don't think you are tightening it too much, but the silicone tube doesn't push too far onto the throttle body, so the hose clamp must be nearly flush at that end.
If your fist is smaller than mine, you might be able to stick your hand in one end, and make a fist to expand the end by the throttle body to get it to fit. I had to stick a screwdriver in the other end as a shoe horn to get it on; that and a bit of spit for lube. Once I got it on good (my third try), I ignored the instructions, and tightened down this clamp well; loosening it later for proper clearance on the aluminum tube.
That and getting out the radiator pass through were the only bothersome parts; the upper pin was a PITA. Took me over 1.5 hrs hrs, but I love the results.
I just finished my install a few hrs ago, and the SC sounds great !! Thanks Rob !!
Must be REALLY audible outside the cabin; tonight everyone wanted to race or play tag.

I had the EXACT some issues that you did tonight. I ended up using a hair dryer on the elbow instead of spit, though. Trying to get the silicon elbow on almost drove me to start smoking again. BUT, in the end, I'm happy with the results. Love the whine.

Mrphotoman,

I think the elbow may be slipping off the intake due to the soap lube you had used.
I got mine on with no lube with the assistance of a screwdriver like a shoehorn working from the bottom upward.
Then I tightened the clamp as hard as it would go using a nut driver instead of a screwdriver.
It is on tight and not moving at all.

For others here.....
As far as the upper plastic rivet on the plastic OEM air duct (passenger side)
I found by reaching behind with a center punch and lining it up with the back of that plastic rivet just one punch with a hammer will pop that sucker right out with no problem.
Then just a little twisting etc the housing will come out.

once the car warmed up the little bit of soap dries right up. i will wash it off and dry it and try again but i think the elbow was made a little small. I checked the elbow this morning and it had slid completely off overnight.

as for the plastic rivet removal, I did the same thing. Just used my hand to hit the back of a screwdriver instead of a hammer and it worked fine lol.
