BRAGGING RIGHTS (lame, i know)
recently installed needswings CAI, ported y-pipe, CODE3 phenolic spacers, sprint booster, and emptied trunk and almost empty gas tank (weight-reductions) and decided to test it out running against my buddy's 2005 porsche carrera S!
i cannot BELIEVE i pulled on him 3 times in a row!!! i am so impressed with this car!

Smoked me a GTO the other day. Had the Code 3 pulley on at the time.
Just after I smoked him my car went into "slow mode" cuz the H/E coolant got too hot again!
Gotta do something about that. SOON!

Tighed1 I know the feeling SLO feeling usually half way thru a GO against the other guy.
We all need to get more air into the heat exchanger to make a difference, heat rejection is everything. I ran an autocross without the aid of my pump due to a blown fuse and hit 200 degrees at the inlet manifold, but still was able to keep the supercharger on line.
I have begun a new and I hope final revision of the H/E to perfect the natural airflow thru the radiator. It will be mounted next week to see the gains for another race I have skeduled on the 27th BARRING more rain. We are 50% above average Rain so far.
I will be rolling video to get the results recorded during the run for evaluation. If I can get it on U tube you,ll see the temps and I hope the G-meter to show lateral G capabilities, my next task / goal. Also you can see the size and location of last H/E I had installed, above the new Core resting on the floor.
The SRT is one un-tapped potential car and we are luck to have gotten in on it while it was available.
New core photos below as a teaser, Woody Enjoy

about 3 1/2 years ago when I trounced a 2005 Carrera S. Got congrats from some folks, but
others here called me an outright liar, saying the SRT-6 would never hold with a 997 model
Carrera S. Good luck, and have fun.

oh, forgot to mention i also have the Code3 phenolic spacers installed too. these are much taller than the LET version.
btw,
i removed one of my horns, and remounted the other one out of the way of the radiator, (and i have a mesh grill) and it made a difference in my heat, i now FINALLY have the needle BELOW the midline most of time, except when sitting at idle for long periods of time in the sun.

if you google a 2005 porsche carrera S, it shows "13.0quarter-mile," we all know we can beat that with a few mods, especially if it's a bad driver.
i can't believe anyone would harass you for that.
i have also raced dead-even with my buddy's 2002 viper, pulled on my other buddy's SL500 and smoked a porsche cayman S, jaguar XKR, etc.
and had my BUTT handed to me by a 800hp turbo camaro and a Ferrari F430!!!
you win some, you lose some....

Hey Waldig
Have read some of your other threads reference H/E cooling when I first hit the "no supercharger" overtemp problem once I had installed the Code 3 pulley.
Looks like you currently have a transmission cooler in-line with the stock H/E.
I have the exact trans cooler new in a box from a previous project. Will I benefit from installing it as you appear to have done?
I took the Code 3 pulley off this morning because I am sick of having no power after driving a dozen miles or so.
Is that a Summit generic aluminum radiator and are you going to make a H/E out of it???
Thanks for your time and all of your efforts directed towards the Crossfire family!

at all with over temps. I did have such problems a couple years ago, but that was a result of
a failing IC water pump. Before you ditch the code 3 pulley, try changing out the IC water pump.
Coyote
(bad Boy threadjacker here)
The pump was replaced under warranty before and works fine with the stock pulley no matter how hard I drive. I suppose it could be marginal and was hoping a little bit of extra cooling would help.

First I removed the stocker H/E core. it is a SOOOO restrictive core that two [another] in a row wont go. Or flow
Second I have two of the bigger trans coolers for a total of 2 square feet face area, they are fed in parallel to keep the restriction low, the johnson pump has only so much pressure.
Third The postings are right, your pulley is not it. I ran a 55 second race without my I/C pump but that was because I also have a 180 degree stat installed ( home rolled design posted for you to see) Your hitting a thermal protection 'wall'
Fourth You know the Summit brands well, yess its a 24 x 16 core, which I just finished TIG'ing the outlets shut to allow thinner profile and ill put the inlet / outlet spuds where I need them.
IF YOU TAKE YOUR TIME AND WATCH THE H*LL WHAT YOUR DOING YOU CAN SEE IF THE PUMP IS RUNNING. BE CAREFUL.....
A. Remove the coolant tank lid to release all pressure. Set it back on and tighten one turn.
B. start the cold car, and drive it around the block softly, leave it running
C. Open hood and pay attention
Watch the pulley and and fan with the motor running
D. Pinch the coolant hose by the oil dipstick, to see if there is pressure in it from the pump.
The hose out the innercooler is the upper one.
The lower one is the input hose back to the I/C.
E. shut off the car and feel the hose for reference (pressure)
When the engine is on and the revs go over about 1700 revs the I/C pump starts and continues till you shut it off.
This saves you from tearing off the oil shield and splash shield below the passenger headlight, to see if the pump is buzzing
If you do get into the panels there is a "spare" pump under the passenger headlight for the heater that you could swap in for trouble shooting purposes.
THis assumes you are motivated and don't have warranty service - coverage to do it for you.

Sorry for the camera size Iam due to get that fixed.Woody

Your up in the Heber/ Winslow area? It's so cool up there you should not be having any cooling issues. I would have the IC pump checked again and see if they actually replaced it. Dealers change the crank position sensor instead, and don't have a clue. Your not even in the 90's right? Heck it wasn't even a 100 here in the valley, so you got to be alot cooler. Definately something going on. You should be able to be full throttle to Flagstaff.
I have the code 3 pulley and have ran the car hard on several occasions without any problems at all...your pump is going again, or they didn't do their job...I still have my stock pump, w/ a johnson standing by....I ran 13 passes at US 41 on LET's test and tune, w/ 90 degree plus temps outside, without any problems...except traction....

BTW - Saw a black Crossfire this morning (Crossfires are rare in this small town) gave him a friendly beep-beep and he looked at me like, "What's your problem!" Whatever....

My SRT is stock. With your mods I have no trouble believe that you'd pull on a 911 S consistently.
I think we need some video the next time you flog your friend's 911

great idea. i would like to get all of my friends together and beat em up!!!! i'll be sure to post here if we make some videos
a buddy of mine just got a 2008 viper, so i will definitely needs some more mods before playing with him! lol.
btw, thank-you for correctly steering this HIJACKED post!!!
we do appreciate the info though....
