Default Rear end pulling to the left.

I was wondering if a few people could do a little test for me. On a flat straight road at cruising speed 40-60 hammer the throttle for just a 2-3 seconds and let off. Are your vehicles pulling to the drivers side much, and then pulling back right when you let off quickly.

The reason I ask is, I slid off the road 2 months ago in farm country into a rather deep ditch. The car did go to a shop where it was fixed by the insurance company, everything seemed great and it drove straight, but i noticed after just a couple hard throttle pulls the car pulls quite noticeably to the left then back to the right when Iaccelerate then let off the throttle suddenly. I do not remember it doing this before, It makes me believe that either the front and rear tires aren't tracking the same, or something loose in the rear end.

For example if i just hold the wheel and do no counter steering the car ends up nearly in the next lane! I did this on a 3 lane open road with no cars do this in a safe manner also i would feel terrible if something happened while doing this for me!

I plan on going back to the shop Monday and letting them know but i wanted a few others to comment on this.

Depends on how severe it is doing this, but don't rule out "tire pull". Were all the tires replaced? When I had my Neon SRT-4 the brand new tires after 4,000 miles started pulling badly (same scenario you mentioned). Switched to new tires and it was fine. It would happen if I would go half-throttle as well.

take a tape and measure from center to center of front to rear on both sides they should be the same ,,if need place tape in same place on the on each side if you are doing this alone,, also jack up the rear only a few inches,, one at a time and see if you can move the wheel up and down and is it sloppy and a;lso back and forth. do the same to the front up and down.

Great tip i did this. Actually I measured the exact center on all 4 caps and marked it with a marker, then used a tape measure and string, and also let someone else do this, both sides matched perfectly, if its off its less than a mm and i doubt would pull at low speeds.

BUT! I assumed they changed both rear tires took a look at my estimate and only one was changed! i examined both tires and noticed two things the old tire had half the tread of the new tire maybe less, and also even though they are both the same tire brand/type original was made in Germany replacement was made in Czech(sp?).

So Satellite I am hoping your right that its just tire pull.

I'm going to assume this is the cause and get the shop to replace the other rear wheel, as this just doesn't seem safe to me. I will let you all know how it goes tomorrow .

I had what I thought was torque steer, turns out that The right rear strut had a loose bolt. Check all bolts and struts on the rear. I had mine off when I took the rear apart back in the day to add the LSD to my srt.

Also you can swap the rear tires left to right and then later try the front to see if it is a tread issue. Hope that helps, Woody ENJOY.
