woody my gasket leaks acted exactly like his vid. the extra air being sucked in caused a very high idle that wouldn't quit. once the cork gaskets were replaced it was just fine

My throttle position error has caused my car to idle like that. Idled up to about 2500+ and i turned it off. I had to pull the battery connector off to reset everything. when I plugged back up, everything was fine. I would get a throttle posiiton CEL.

That's one thing I forgot to mention I'm currently running the normal OEM gaskets with the NeedsWings manifolds because as Steve said the old cork ones were toast! I didn't realize that could make such a difference? Surley the OEM gaskets would atleast be good enough to seal them up to around 15psi!

So what I've done since my last post is, re-tighten the manifold bolts (they got abit loose, I'll use blue thread lock after I get the cork gaskets) and now the car idles fine, however when I got WOT after 5,000rpms until redline the car just stops pulling, it almost sounds like it's revving in neutral then it changes gear and it's okay again until it gets to 5,000rpms. Im now hoping it's to do with not having cork gaskets and nothing else

Im sure i read somewhere from Rob that the stock gaskets are barely good enough for 15psi. Didnt you get new gaskets from NW when you bought your Manifolds? I hope you get this sorted out asap i feel for you. Before your issues how did the car feel since finaly getting the manifolds tuned? Night and day difference?

the oem and the corks are 1 time use. after they are tightened down the cant be reused without leaking. replace them then see how the car runs

Ruby gave me hell for trying to reuse the old ones, and I went with new cork from Rob...probably a good thing I did sounds like...I beleive you have a leak. You can spray a little WD-40 along the gaskets while it is idling and see if it revs any...it can be a great leak detector...no short cuts with these cars...not like the old days....lol...

TPS....

also check for leaks. I have seen the tps do that many times. I have also seen minor leaks that do that as well.

Disconnect battery, let her sit and check again.

If still doing it..

Disconnect tb wire.

key to position 2. let sit for 2 mins

turn off

plug back in tb

key to position 2. Let sit for 2 mins, you will hear tb doing its reset procedure.

turn off

Start...

Also look for the small pipe that goes into the sc snout. It might have come loose.

that reminds me, my CSP sensor popped loose and cause mine to go nuts as well. I had to replace it, as one of the prongs cracked. Jake, I keep getting in too late to catch the guys. Any other phone #'s for after hours I can use...I tried yesterday, but no answer. I figured they were closed already, or on the road somewhere. I will shoot for tomorrow. PM me with any instructions I might need. I have already purchased and have a cable. Thanks man....

Your right about the stock ones only holding up to 15psi, I didnt realise the OEM gaskets were only a one time use aswell I thought that only applied to the cork gaskets, regardless I'm going to order new cork gaskets from Rob today.

There is a huge difference since being tuned for the manifolds, although when it gets to 5,000rpms it feels like it goes to neutral meaning it stops pulling hard, then it shifts gear and pulls really hard all the way to 5,000rpms so when I get these new gaskets hopefully it will fix my issues.

You heading to the track again anytime soon?

KAAAPPOOOWW!!!
You're gonna pop that motor! Get some brand new manifold gaskets, throw away those phenolic spacers, triple check for air leaks.

Thanks for the tip Doc, I'll give that a try tonight.

Jake I keep getting paranoid that if I disconnect the battery I'll some how lose my tune

On a serious note, I think I've narrowed down the issue, I bought new (stronger) clamps to replace the oem clamps where the manifolds connect to the Y Pipe, I felt that made a difference straight away.

I then re-tightend the manifold bolts and went for a drive, car was flawless, it drove so hard I couldn't believe it. However after a few of these hard drives on the freeway it started to not pull between 5,000rpms and 6,200rpms until it changed gear.

So I came home and again re-tightend the manifold bolts, again it went good for a few runs and then the issue began again.

Im gonna get new cork gaskets from Rob and I'm fairly confident that will solve the issue!

John.

I dont see how it would wreck the engine? its got a boost leak, only side affect should be less power

Hmm stops pulling at 5000 rpm ..............had mine dyno'd, and the power curve dropped of a cliff at 5000 rpm, due to the fact that the car was running extremely LEAN, a very bad situation, and I would get the AFR checked so that if you are running lean you won't do any expensive damage.
One of Needswings/Waldigs fuel system upgrades has cured mine, just need to get back on the dyno with Eurocharged to solve a rich situation at WOT
