Default Crank case vent hose

Ran across an interesting predicament yesterday. A month or so ago, I noticed the crank case vent hose was torn at the end that connects to the intake.

I removed the driver's side intake as well as the damaged hose.

I consulted my trusty parts diagram and chose item #6.

Ordered it and received the new part. Looks just like the one in the diagram, but nothing like the part that's on the car. Bends are wrong and it doesn't fit (too long).

Original Hose

New Hose

The part numbers match up and the hose looks the same as the one in the diagram, but nothing like the original. I checked the parts diagram for both the NA and SC models and they were the same.

Any ideas on why there's a difference between the diagram and the actual motor? This is on an '05 SRT Roadster.... Thanks in advance!

The diagram is for the NA and the hose goes down to the venturi at the top of the throttle body. But the SRT one just goes to the intake as you show.
I'm just going from memory of myNA.

I was wondering about that, but saw that under the "Engine" column, it listed EGZ as well. Any help with the proper diagram would be greatly appreciated. I found the diagram under the section entitled "Group - 3.2LS Engine 3.2L SOHC 18 Valve Supercharged V-6 [EGZ]".....

The parts list for 2004, 2005 and 2006 basically list and show the same parts for the NA and the SRT. They just added the SRT model but used the NA diagram and part numbers. I looked for the Mercedes part number but I have not found it yet.

In any configuration, can the hose you bought be spun/flipped then cut to be close enough to fit? Just a thought.

It's pre-bent, rigid, and the ends are both flared to facilitate the connection. I've got the original back on fairly secure thanks to some stretchy black tape around the end. I'd really like to use the right hose for the job, rather than just be "good enough"...

Of course, I'll no longer need the hose once I get the Needswings CAI... Just about have the wife talked into it....

I was looking for the one I took off when I put the CAI on, I thought it might have the part number molded into it. Most every other part has the number on it, the Germans are very thorough, ja?

Have you considered getting a catch can from Needswings? http://www.needswings.com/ProductImages/cc1.jpg

A couple things to point out as I read through this post:
1) A catch can setup does not eliminate the cracked hose in question (item 6), it eliminates items 4 + 5.
2) A DCAI setup from Needswings does not eliminate said hose either (at least not the version I bought from them)

The single CAI does eliminate that hose, either that or I have to find somewhere to put the hose that sits in my removed OEM parts box.
That's the hose that goes to the rearward DS rocker cover nipple. On the SCAI it is replaced with a hose that goes to a nipple on the intake at the bottom on the PS.

This seems to be a right kit to replace all the breather hoses and the price is good:
Engine Crankcase Breather Hose Kit CRP ABK0131 fits 98-05 Mercedes E320

I've found that Pelican Parts has one of the better selections of molded cranckcase breather hoses for the Crossfire/M-B cars. Go to Pelican Parts and search using a 2004 Model Year Mercedez-Benz, then select the SLK series. Click on the SLK32 AMG. Once you're in, go to Engine / Oil Circulation / Cranskcase Ventilation. The only hose shown looks like the one you're looking for. (See attached file)

All the other molded hoses typically needed are listed under the SLK320.

Hmmmm, one hose 31 bucks, all 4 for 25 bucks with free shipping? Any reason not to get the full set for @ 25 bucks? I would ask someone who bought these, to post here if they are all the right sizes...

You have to pay to get the OEM hose, the rest are copies. Pelican lists those by the clone makers or OEM in some parts.

If you want the Chrysler part you can always go to the stealer and ask for the part, then you will receive the Mercedes OEM part at a greatly increased price with the Chrysler sticker showing you the Chrysler part number stuck over the Mercedes label which has the Mercedes part number on it.

You could buy the $25 set from China but the stealers kids want to go to Harvard and learn where their father is losing money by not charging more for his services.

I sometimes wonder where MB actually get their hoses from. Does anyone REALLY know? Maybe, the MB part (re-labeled and sold by FCA), is a china knockoff in a MB box before it is labeled a MB part...
