Any 178 pulley issues?
Re: Any 178 pulley issues?
ASP was the original supplier, and I believe the only supplier of the 178 Crank Pulley. Since that came onto the marketplace, I am not aware of any failures of this pulley. The 181 & 185 crank pullies were supplied by other companies over the years from 2005, failures have taken place. Quite a few SRT6 owners decided to go with a modified supercharger pulley to enhance performance. Search some of Waldig's threads concerning the pulley failures.
Use the search button on the face page and several threads will appear....

Re: Any 178 pulley issues?
I run the 178 from needswings. I went that route since my OEM crank pulley was failing (my car has a 194k miles) and I had 2 aftermarket 65mm blower pulley's fail. I just wanted more power and im not chasing 1/4 mile times so I went the 178 route. No issues to report on my end since I put it on in October. I did change out my waterpump when I switched but again that was just a preventive maintenance thing since my car was on the OEM pump and was nearing 200k. My original waterpump was still fine and not leaking. I did replace my supercharger as well since it was leaking oil prior, but again I view that as a worn age item.
When you get near 200k miles on any car alot of stuff is just going to have to be replaced.

I am now waiting for my THIRD 65mm pulley from eurocharged. They are a reputable brand however both the previous pulley's I had on for a day began sounding like a bottle of glass being shaken around at idle... I was also told (by eurocharged) no one makes steel pulleys anymore when I asked why there's was so light...
Let me know if you have any luck! If the third fails I will be getting a refund and going elsewhere.
The ECU/TCU tune is fantastic though... Just my 2 cents

Re: Any 178 pulley issues?
Folks have any insight on the older 185 crank pulleys? i havent spent alot of time on the forum the past bit. Just wondering what the consensus is on it. Mine has been fine, other then SC belt slippage issues depending on the days weather, ill be playing around with DIY belt wrap setup. but then again i only have around 18,000 mi on the car. So im sure more seasoned drivers with the 185 can relate to its longevity.
Edit: Ok i read waldig's post regarding his failed 185 pulley. Im assuming the LET and Eurocharged pulley are the same?

Re: Any 178 pulley issues?
You are persistent aren’t you, most would have given up by now, Others make steel pulleys and they stand a better chance of lasting longer. Aluminum is cheaper to buy and it is easier to machine the belt profile in to it, so guess why they use aluminum.

Will report back in a few months and let you know if that's still the case...
