Also, keep in mind that if the law states the motor must be newer than the car itself, and yours is older, you can show them data all day long to prove your point, but they are the government and if a law says something in black and white, you are doomed. Show them FACTS and I bet they still will point to the way the law is written. I have seen it too many times in other parts of the governement - inflexibility and a need to prive they have power over you...
Sorry, but my way is much easier LOL (and seriously, if you need to figure something out if your plan does not work, let me know)

"Next up is to get my new 16" electric fan rigged"
I guess I thought that you were electric pre-swap.... I have put together a care package to send.
Includes; fan relay, inline fuse, 20' 14ga wire, misc. terminals. You will still need a fixed/adj. thermostat to control the relay ~ something like this>>
Whoa...That's scary about the emissions!

I was more talking about holding it to the radiator. My pusher was rigged with those black things that you push through the radiator and once it got hot, they broke. I want to come up with a better method of holding it in place. aka, custom brackets.
I purchased a grey market Mercedes in Phoenix AZ a long time ago. Included was a Texas title and the DOT/EPA exemptions. However, Phoenix didn't have to honor them because of their pollution problem. To license the car in Phoenix I was told to replace the entire exhaust system (evidence of leaded fuel present) and add all the smog equipment. More than the price of the car. Well, I took the car to Tennessee and licensed it there (still owned a house in TN) and drove it back to Phoenix. That was the only legal way around the problem as I knew I wasn't staying in Phoenix for much longer.

Wow that's insane. The only difference for mine is that all of the smog equipment is in place, functioning and M112's and M113's are ULEV.
I spent an hour when I got home yesterday calling a bunch of different smog shop's that have ref's come in for specialty circumstances. One didn't know what he was talking about but the others were pretty damn helpful. I was using the whole "what if my engine turns out to be a year older" type question and they all said ultimately it's up to the ref, but if the emissions equipment is the exact same, and it was installed well, then there probably wont be a problem. 2 of the guys said they more than likely wont get a year from it unless I give a donor VIN, which I don't have and turns out is a good thing.

Yeah, they all got busted for it supposedly so they're on the lookout now. All they have to do is count coils which are visible with the box on.
Yeah lol, I tried the slide through thing, that's the problem. The smog shops wont touch it because the engine wasn't an option in this car. It has to be certified at the state smog referee which is a 30 minute to 2 hour inspection.
If the police here didn't know for a fact that I lived here and most likely had Indiana plates to get around smog, then I totally would lol.

I bet that is a huge problem for the police who enforce those crazy rules. You know people are going to try whatever they can to get around it. If you live here more than 2 months in a row, you must buy Indiana plates. But, not too many enforce it.
Most people succeed. I've already been offered to "pay a guy" but I'd rather the car be legal. Funny you mention police enforcing the crazy rules, cause there must be something about this car. I take a highway for a mile to and from work, and today (first since swap) an officer was behind me all the way through the base gate about 10 minutes ago. We locked eyes in my mirror and he backed off of me. Remember that I am cat-backless, it's completely chopped off where the two meets to one. Kind of strange for our town considering a few years ago I got a fix-it-ticket for a different exhaust tip (not even a muffler).
Checking your car out. BASE GATE. You in the military? Anyway, I wouldn't even truck out there, their rules are off the charts. Even the APU on my truck has to be CARB certified. NOT worth it. Well, good luck, I am sure there is a least one sane inspector out there.
Hopefully there is a good inspector, and hopefully he's in Victorville this friday. I just hooked up the stock cat-back and scheduled an appointment for friday morning.
By putting the cat-back back on, I lost quite a bit of power through the entire range, but the most up top... It's getting chopped as soon as I'm legal.
Star DAS listed 2 monitors not ready, EGR and Cat, so I ran out to an abandon road, let it cool and ran the drive cycle. After which my lights dimmed, I heard clicking, and now something is chirping when I shift. Sounds like a small BOV. DAS check tonight will show if she's ready. So far no CEL.
I touched up the harness a little, swapped an ECU label plate from mine to the newest 5.0L ECU I had that came in the SL lol, 2006. Not sure if they can pull the internal P/N, doubt it, but if they can, I'll have some explaining to do lol.
Calls to ref's confirm that they really have no way to look up the year of the block on these so I'm good there and I will default to 2004.
Couple possible fails if he wants to be picky.... I have no fan shroud on my mechanical fan.... Exhaust manifolds are custom, but made from stock MB manifolds.... 02 sensors are ran in the exhaust manifold, not the down pipe to the first set of cats.... V6 intake tubes (not on, until I'm around the corner from the shop lol) but they are OEM technically.... I think that's it actually. I'm allowed one monitor not ready.
NO, emissions or even vehicle inspection here in FL!!!
AND we're a ONE plate state!!!
AND allows down to 30% tint on the front windows, but since there is NO vehicle inspection, I guess it really doesn't matter...
