Default New injectors installed now I have rough idle

I am getting a rough idle after my injector install. It's enough that I can feel the car shake from side to side. Has anyone else experienced this? Car is too hot under the hood to play around with right now, but i've been tossing around some ideas.

1. Injector may not be seated properly and thus fuel not entering as it should.

2. A plug may loose on one or more injectors. This was the biggest pain I had installing the whole thing. When you seat the injector all the way into the rail it makes the clip hard to plug in. Even when facing the right direction on the rail.

3. IF a plug was loose, wouldn't check engine light come on?

Also because of the idle, I am getting a knock.

Any suggestions?

I think it is probably one of the plugs is loose on the injector. I just finished installing mine and I had a hell of time getting a couple of them to seat properly. With a little persistence and twice the time it should it have taken, I got them seated and had no problem on start up.

A little tug, side to side, will cause the unseated one to pop right off.

Thanks for the info! I have to agree with you on the plugs. the connector on the injector comes right up to the metal part of the rail where the clip would slide on. I will try backing the injector out of the rail, install the plug then push it in as far as it can go. Such a pain!

A loose plug will not cause a CEL, either will an unproperly seated injector.

You should have no more then a 16th or so of an inch showing at the bottom. If using the retaining clip use the top slot.

That information would have been really nice to have up front. An instruction sheet with little tidbits like that included would have made the install so much easier.

So if I can see the o-ring in the manifold it's not pressed in far enough?
I was a little worried about pressing them in too hard.

Also I am having a bit of trouble getting the plugs to fully clip into the injector. Should they still "click" in? Or are retainers still reccomended to use?

After seeing Anthony's post yesterday, I re-did mine this morning. I was seeing the same things you are. Pull the injectors back out of the fuel rail about 1/8th of an inch and you will see a notch. The clips slide in perfectly and the plugs "snap" right into place with no problem at all. You also will not see the o-ring on the bottom after reinstalling. It took about 2/3 less time just knowing that little bit of information.

It's a shame there wasn't info provided that would have made this a simple install for the average DIYer. It isn't hard to do.....when you have all the information needed. I do have to say that the wiring harness cover is probably the worst part of the whole darn thing....what a pain in the ****.

Sorry, I will work on getting some detailed info for this install. I take for granted the little steps.

OK UPDATE! I went back out and pulled the rail and installed the clips. Although I don't think they needed because when the plugs are pushed on they can push the clip loose. So don't worry about the clips. The injectors aren't going anywhere .

I still have a problem with some plugs not "clicking" back in. I think that only 3 or 4 felt really secure. The rest are loose and it doesn't take much to get them off. This isn't that big of an issue. I will see about using a ty-wrap or perhaps some small mil wire to make sure it doesn't pop loose down the road.

I did some playing with the plugs though after I started her back up. I slowly backed a plug off the injector and the engine would die almost immediately. Seems that either you have a connection or you dont.
There isn't much room for it to be loose and still run.

The injectors do not go as far in the manifold as you can push them. I did this and had to back them out some to fit the spacers in because the rail was too low. But at least this way I knew they were in as far as they could go. I can still see a little bit of the o-ring probably half of the injectors.

Now to the test drive! After I put everything back together again and started it up and checked for leaks. Backed it out of the garage slowly taking the 3/4 mile trip out of my subdivison. I pulled on to the main drag and launched...BIG DIFFERENCE in the power across the entire band!

First gear goes very fast and second and third pull much harder than before. Very easy to break it loose in second. I didn't have much road to go through the gears past fourth but I really like what I have felt so far
I've heard that it takes some time for the ECU to adjust and when it does
it's even faster!

I dunno what caused my problem to begin with something wasn't right. I am just glad I was able to correct it.

Did you just install injectors? OR the tvt250 kit? What all do you have done?

I had a helluva time getting the injectors to seat, so I took a rubber mallet and gently tapped on the fuel rail. It worked great. Not sure it was the best approach, but it worked...
