Soft Brake problem
Re: Soft Brake problem
Thanks Jeff. I just talked to a German Import specialty garage near me. They specialize in European Imports, particularly Mercedes and BMW. They told me that to do the job properly they have to use a scan tool to properly bleed the brakes. They said that's the only way to COMPLETELY CLEAR ALL FLUID from the system. I've never heard of that before but I'm not a German car Specialist. This shop comes highly recommended and I guess that all one can do is try them once and see. If it's a rip, I can sure let a lot of people know. If it's good, I can also relate my experience here. I will keep everyone posted on the results. It may take a week or more because they are busy enough that I can't get in for a week. Hope that's a good sign.

That is what is rumoured but I would think that the bleed valves would need to be open so that the valves would force old fluid and bubbles out while replenishing the unit with fresh brake fluid.

Re: Soft Brake problem
Before I started the process of bleeding the brakes for this soft pedal issue, I decided to go ahead and replace the pads while I had the car up on stands. Everything went fine until I got ready to put the retaining springs back on the front brakes. Passenger side went right on and seated in the two holes. The drivers side will not seat all the way down in the holes, and I'm afraid it will come off. I was careful removing them, and I'm positive I didn't bend it out of shape. I'm not real keen on this design, even on the seated side, it just appears they could come off even when seated, but that's another story. Has anyone experienced this spring issue and found a solution?
Re: Soft Brake problem
Well having the brake fluid flushed & brakes bled & calipers checked to make sure they were moving on the slides ok , now brake pedal back up to where it use to be ! Also no more bas/esp light ! All good . Now back to cruzng in crossfire & enjoying the ride !
