Gas cap/Filler cap fitment question.
I had bought a new gas cap and it's causing the gas light to flash and the check engine light to come on. Luckily I kept the original. Since I've put it on there have been no warning lights.
I would like to replace the original with a good quality cap. I've looked through the MoPar/Mercedes-Benz cross reference with no luck. I've searched the posts with no luck.
Does anyone know if this one will fit? Thanks in advance for any help.

THANKS
I stopped the car, turned it off and took off the gas cap and put it back on. We drove around for a bit and went home. A week later we were in the car and the gas light started flashing again.
I stopped and did the same as last time. I started driving and the light started flashing again and the check engine light came on. I took the car home and got codes P0455 & P0442 both evap leak codes.
I came on to the forum and did some searching and a few people had posted about their gas cap being the trouble. Luckily I still had my original and since I've put that on it hasn't hasn't happened.
I looked at both caps and the seal on the aftermarket cap looks like it's a tiny bit smaller than the original. Also the part number doesn't look right. The original also has metal guts as opposed to the aftermarket which has plastic guts.
That's why I'm pretty sure it's the gas cap.
I went to get gas at the same Sunoco station I always go to. Instead of using 91 octane I put in 93 octane. I put in 3/4 of a tank. We were driving around and about 30 minutes later the gas light started flashing.

UPDATE:
I think the aftermarket gas cap was my problem. The original is still going strong.
Lesson learned. If you're going to replace the gas cap, don't cheap out like I did. Spend the extra money and get a high quality one.

I went through the same process. Broken lanyard, so I replaced the gas cap, probably off of Amazon. Got several codes and cleared them. Got frustrated and went back to the original cap and so far no codes. Apparently, the replacement cap is not quite a "good" replacement cap.
Need to be more diligent in reading these posts and not picking up "knockoff" parts. Also, it pays to have a good scanner.

I wanted a crossfire when they first came out. Finally happened and now I have two. A north one in Michigan and an SRT that I just received the Florida title. Have to make up for lost time.....
the Crossfire does not use the same gas cap as the SLK. here is the actual cap / tether for the crossfire
