Hi, need HELP, Transmission woes
Needing help!!
Just bought a 2004 crossfire coupe with automatic transmission and 93k miles on it. Have not even driven it 200 miles and yesterday the transmission started shifting hard and by the time i could stop the transmission poured the transmission fluid out and the engine stalled the engune was not running hot, but the check engine light came on. The car can be shifted into neutral or drive or any ither selection and can be pyshed or towed unless in park of course. The engine will not turn over to crank but but the battery does have a charge. When switching the car on to crank it up the rear spoiler deploys and you haft to put it back down by using the switch.
Is the car a loss or am I needing to get the transmission rebuilt or replaced.
Im really worried since the engine doesn't want to turn over much less fire up.
Edited for easier reading.... Pizza

DO not attempt to drive the car until that leak is corrected. Tow the car (on a tow truck raised bed) to a suitable place to work on it. DO NOT attempt to drive it under it's own power.
When the battery is low then the wing comes up. That is normal. You can disconnect the battery from the car and then try to charge it, but if you do not know how old the battery might be best to just purchase a new battery.
Where in AL are you? I am in the southeast corner.
Your car is probably okay and you will not have to rebuild or replace the transmission, but don't do any more harm by trying to drive it until the leak is corrected. The car is not starting because you have a very low charge on the battery. One step at a time. This shouldn't be a big problem.YOU MUST use the correct fluid Pentosin 134 ATF red fluid and get it at the correct level. You will need to purchase a dipstick for the transmission as the car does not have one from the factory.
IF you can't do this yourself go to an independent garage that works on European automobiles. DO NOT go to a dealer!
PS If you go to a garage if the car will not can as a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire on their equipment have them scan it as a 2003 Mercedes SLK 320. Your car was built in Germany by Daimler Chrysler and except for the styling most parts come from and are available from Mercedes.

"transmission poured the transmission fluid out" From where did the fluid pour from? There are two fluid lines that run from the transmission to the front of the car where they attach to the radiator to cool the fluid and then return to the transmission. Has one of those tubes cracked or become disconnected from its fitting?

I living in Mobile.
I am a huge Mercedes Benz enthusiasts including this one 8th Mercedes-Benz I've owned since high school ranging from a 1970 220D to S classes in the 70s and 80s to a 2000 SLK 230 to a 2001 SL500 to this 2004 Crossfire. Main reason I bought it because it is an SLK 320 with a beautiful body on her. I fell in live with the car in 2094 when I saw the television advertisement with Celine Dione singing '' I Drove All Night '' and I saw the wing come out of the body. When learning that Mercedes-Benz built it I wanted one ever since. We'll a mechanic caught my SL500 on fire and I finally got the settlement and got one... I do hope that the transmission isn't fried but um willing to have it rebuilt or replaced. I absolutely live this car and if it's jystva battery and a broke line that would be a nightmare turning into a dream .
I spent more time under the trans than I care for: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...on-nova-2.html
The tranny is a Mercedes 722.6 with slight alteration for the crossfire. Yes get the car in a safe place and get some pictures of the leak. Then we can better advise you. There should be plenty of used trans on the junkyard market. If it's the cooling lines, then it's a matter of getting those fixed and filed with the right fluid.

The wing coming up is almost meaningless - it's common for ANY voltage sag in the system to cause this to happen. Also, a battery below about 10.8 volts will not crank the car but will light all the lights and deploy the wing. Kinda sounds like a weak battery or dying alternator, in addition to the transmission issue.
As to the transmission, owners of automatics have a MYRIAD of issues with them and almost NEVER does it mean the transmission is ruined. Just STOP DRIVING THE CAR until you get the transmission issue resolved. I will leave you in the hands of those who understand the automatic transmission issues - I won't own a vehicle with an automatic and damn surely not a Crossfire with an automatic. (The Crossfire is a sports car, sports cars have manual transmissions. Now that I have insulted 1/2 the membership, I will crawl back into my cave...................

I do not settle. The two manual roadster I have owned, involved one way plane tickets and a drive home - 475 miles for the SE and 2200 miles for the graphite.
I do not settle!
