That is enough reason for moving my Xfire to Arizona this Fall;
Now, all I have to worry about is the headliner caving in from the dry heat???
I asked the guy at a body shop to check it out for me. I said it was a common problem. He didn't want to do it.... told me a little rust is bound to happen and said it is best not to pull the strip off (because getting it back on is a pain). I offered to pay this guy (who has been doing this 30 years) and he could have easily done the job and made money but he refused. He felt like it wasn't worth it.
By the way, water does run down through the door when it rains and out the bottom holes. No car is 100% water tight. They are all designed to let water flow through the inner panels of the door (most of the water flows on the outside).

I have to tell you that you don't need a body guy to check the bottom of your door yourself; taking the rubber out of the track and then reinstall is not a difficult thing to do.
I hope that when somebody checks this, you get it treated with rust inhibitor for future because this can be serious as you have seen from an earlier post. Even a little sign of rust in this area indicates that moisture is being trapped under the rubber. It is a vulnerable area for rust damage. Many readers of this thread have checked the area themselves and then treated the problem to avoid future damage.
Your body man is taking a very 'uninterested' view about this............bigger 'fish to fry', I guess.

If the car never gets wet (by rain or car wash) that's about the only way from keeping water from getting trapped underneath the seal.
Your seal must fit extreamly well, (or you send your car to the dry cleaners)
Rimshot, the trough is part of the door, I don't think it's a replacable part.
I don't recommend doing it, but some people have actually removed the rubber seal at the bottom of the door. If my trough rusted away, I'd probably try it, since you're probably going to have to find some replacement doors anyway.

Ira...........we are down in Port Charlotte Florida as of today and will be staying here at least four nights, so by the middle of next week, we should be heading north again to the Panhandle and then make that 90degree turn to the left............Hwy 10 Phoenix bound.
We may stop along the way a little but expect to be in Phoenix by mid November at the latest.
They say it is a 'dry heat' and 'rust free'........oh I hope that is true!
BTW, the Xfire cruised like she was riding on air........hee hee; man I like this car!
Chrysler has set up a complaint hot line for customers to call with issues. They told me the more people who call about a specific complaint like Door rust & weather stripping that holds in the water, the more likely they'll fix the issue! So I suggest everyone call with their vin # and file a complaint about the weather stripping holding in moisture & door rust!!!!

Took Ashly's SRT to the dealer last night to have other work done and Chrysler rep was there today. I showed them the rust and they agreed to fix the rust problem. Showing them the problem was easy with the lambo doors.
Now I need to check mine.
PS. To all SRT owners, please check under your wing. I have had both wings off and there were both showing the beginning signs of rust.

When you remove the wing, there is a piece of metal that is infused to the wing mount that has the mounting bolts coming from it, that you secure to the hatch. That metal that has the bolts is not painted & is bare metal. This is what rusts!!!
Why the heck they wouldn't paint that metal???? I have no idea! Just scrape it down, to remove the rust, then paint the metal or treat it with rust inhibitor. I used the clear por 15 on mine & it came out great!
Now I have to do the Ragtop!

You got that right.........Texas has to be the worst waste of a day.
Just looked at my '04 and there is indeed rust! I am buying Rust Bullet right now, and I will fix it next weekend. Thanks to everyone on this forum for making it really easy for a new Crossfire owner to find, and fix, the common problems.
