Default Ragtop Window

My rear window in my limited roadster has seperated at the 2 top corners. It appears to have been glued originally...kind a cheap. Has antone had this fixed? Details please. Also, after a front end repair, my engine cooling fan funs on hig all the time, even when cool, just started. My outside temp thermometer reading is off the wall high. Bodyshop claims to not have touched the fan or sensors, but they obviously did something.

I'm not sure about the sensors but the top is a replace not repair situation. I just had to have mine replaced last week because a stupid mangy stray cat jumped thru my rear window (he was fat). You have a few options. I don't believe that anyone has come up with a long term glue the window in fix, so that is out. Glue might work up north but here in the south our tops take a huge beating from the sun, heat & humidity.

Option 1 is to go to a local top repair company - they can't fix the seal, but they can replace the rear window on your top with a plastic one. I hate this look personally, but it is your car & budget.

Option 2 is to get a new after market top. These can look really great, almost like factory, for less money. I know that we had a forum member get their car done for about $1400.

Option 3 is a brand new OEM top from Chrysler. These had been almost impossible to find but in my search for a new top on mine I found a dealer that has some. His e-mail is davidcogle@greenway.com. My top was about $2000 installed at the dealership. Mine was an insurance claim so I had it done at the dealership (my deductible was the same for any of the options). The good news is that it only took a few hours to swap out the top & it looks great!

I hope you have some luck getting your car fixed .... I wish I knew about the temp sensor for you.

I have another option. My daily driver is a Sebring convertible. I had the rear window separate from the fabric. I have a brand new spare top, but that is a major project to replace it, and I would rather hold that for another day. The current top was in decent condition. I purchased a rebond kit from Eastwood, and used it, and it appears to have worked well. It's a bit pricey at $130.00, but compared to the alternatives it's affordable.

Here is the link: Eastwood ConvertibleGlass Window Rebond Kit

Have no fear Tighed1 is here!

Apparently someone didn't have success with my "How To" rear window fix. Many HAVE and our repairs are still going strong.

Check out this thread!

I have to agree with tighed1, eventho he's in BLUE ! I used his method to repair my window in Jan 2010, and my repair (reglue) area was more then yours, and it's still holding like new. Please notice that I post in BLACK, rather then BLUE, because it stands out more. Besides the 3M window weld is BLACK also. I agree that the window was wrongly glued in originally, and probably should have been in a "pocket" of some sort, but before buying a new top, if your top material is in good condition, please, please, try his repair procedure exactly.
Sorry can't help you with the fan issue or temp, but you might want to repost that situation with a different heading, OR, search the forum because its been addressed mucho times.
Good luck ......
