Good timing because I saw your post and needed to fix my intermittent turn signal today. The tab on my socket was bent in slightly making it intermittent so I bent it out with a needle.

The tab on the socket and the cutouts where it inserts are countintuitive. This image might help. The tab does not line up with the cutout until it's inserted and locked into place. And it only rotates about 20 degrees.
