Yes but those are not programmed. Regular locksmiths cannot program so you have to go to dealer and then Cha ching. If THEY can even do it.

According to other threads here, programming can simply be done by yourself. Pressing one of the buttons twice, putting it in your ignition and turn it on. That's all it takes.
Of course it needs to be cut to your vehicle, by a locksmith. Bring your own key.

Not exactly, pushing the buttons reauthorizes the lock/unlock portion of the fob. BUT it has to be programmed for the car originally. The transponder also has to be programmed for the car. So there are two things that have to be factory programmed. The transponder and the board for the lock/unlock. You cant just get a working board from another car for the lock/unlock and push the buttons and have the car recognize new board. I was going to buy a couple of used fobs just for the lock/unlock board and pull the transponder from the original and tape inside the steering column so it would "read" the transponder and I could have as many working keys with working buttons but you cant program the used boards for your car. It's one of those pay us because you have to things.

I am a locksmith and even the best clone tool wont work on XF's. I can cut as many keys as you want on a Mercedes HU64P blank and tape a working transponder inside the column and it will work fine but no fob buttons.

I think it is best if you get your facts right before making these statements. With your method all security would be lost, I think you had better read some more.

Erroneous statements could lead to someone spending $$$$$$$$ on parts that are of limited or no use to them.

The secret of the fobs security is a little chip 1/16" x 1/16" x .050 thick, this chip only answers the one specific signal from the SKREEM matched specifically to it. This chip cannot be programed by the dealer, the only programing they can do for $100 is the lock/unlock feature which you can do for nothing very easily.

The transmitter that opens the doors I believe is dependent on the correct chip sending a signal to the SKREEM and the SKREEM recognizing the signal, OK's the programing of the door lock feature when you trigger this by pressing the button while the key is in the ignition. If the key does not fit it just wont happen.

The Chrysler appointed company gets all the pertinent info on the original car and then programs and cuts the key to suit this info. You will have to prove that it is your car the key is for.

As I had stated before from having the DAS system and looking around in it.. Your skreem module is pre programmed to accept 10 or 15 codes (I don't recall exactly) and that information is on record with them to be able to provide another key.

At least now I know why those fobs keep showing up on Ebay... seems people will spend that 60 bucks..

There was an auction.. by a Chrysler dealer I contacted and asked them why they would be selling a key fob that was useless... "it was for a customer that never picked it up". Apparently they didn't even know it was useless and ended up pulling the auction.

Not sure what's happening here, feels a bit like bashing. But for the sake of learning I did look up post #15 and #16 in both threads.

Bashing? No.. just hoping someone doesn't half a$$ed read a post or google search and think they can buy an Ebay fob for 60-80 bucks and be all set to go.

Vain attempt at correcting "mis" information I guess.

That just refers to taking a key that will start your car and program it to remotely open and close the doors, hatch and gas cap cover. That does not refer to programing the chip to start the car. That can only be done at the authorized facilities. That is NOT the dealer. For some reason they do not trust dealers to do that programing, has anyone got any idea why that could be?
Many dealers do not safely store your personal information according to the law and leave it lying around on desks or unlocked filing cabinets for all to see. Also many dealerships employ people of known poor moral standards and rip of the dealership left, right and center. When found out these people are often just fired and not prosecuted, leaving them to start all over again at a different dealer.

Never, ever leave anything of value in your car, no insurance, license, wallet etc.
As for the bashing where do you get that from? I tried to help that is all, it will be the last help you get from me.

Reading the eBay ad I see that the blurb says the following "
Programming: We know of no way to reprogram this remote so please do your homework before you purchase. We do not take returns on this item."I think that tells us all we need to know.

Just trying to help here, too. And happy to see we now got all the information neatly together. Good!
And again, thanks.
