Default Oil Filter Wrench

I see several Mecedes Oil Filter wrenches for sale on Amazon. Which one is the right size for our car? These are just a few:
  1. Mecedes 102 and 103
  2. ASM-2136
  3. 36 mm
Most of these are manufactured by Assemacher. What is the type (best) for the Crossfire.

Cool Re: Oil Filter Wrench

If you need a wrench to remove the oil filter dome, it was over-torqued on the last install.

The o-ring is a radial seal (as opposed to a face seal) and when the plastic dome touches the aluminum cylinder, all you can do is "stretch" the plastic threads. If you have small hands, or are small in stature, I would suggest a "strap wrench" (rubber and plastic) ~$3 at Walmart, and you can use it for other things too.

The torque spec is 18 ft/lbs and can be accomplished by hand with the grip available on the body of the oil filter cap (dome).

Just my opinion, you understand.

Do you use a torque wrench? Some research on a Mercedes site I did says that a 74/76 mm x 14 points wrench will fix perfectly and not scratch the housing.

Like he said, You don't need any wrenches to remove the filter.
If your cover is too tight use a strap wrench or use a rag to cover the top and grip the top with a pair of pliers and turn it to loosen the top. Not sure where you are seeing that you need any kind of socket wrench?
Once the filter assembly is removed from the housing you can pull it off/slide it down the shaft, with your hands. Search the oil change threads, there is one with great pics.

Thank you. I was looking at a Mercedes site where they do an oil change on an SLK. They use the socket oil filter wrench to remove and actually torque it to 25 N-M with a torque wrench.
