Default FSS Showing Oil Change Due At 8K???

Can any of the techs shed some light???

I don't know if I have a problem with my FSS or not. My FSS is now showing my oil change due at 8k miles, currently I have 5k on the car. It has "slowly" been creeping up from the standard 7k. Most of my driving has been 75% highway. I know the type of driving and condition of the oil plays a major part in this equation but was wondering if this sounds right or not and if I should have my dealer look into this.

I know there was some debate a while back on oil change intervals... I opted to go with what the car's computer says.

Thanks for any inputs.

Hey AZ Outlaws. How do you get the car's computer readout? I read something about how it tells you when you turn on the car how long you should until your next oil change, but I don't see anything of the sort and am not sure if I need to do something first.

Greg,

Just get in the car and push the "odometer" **** twice real fast and it will show you the miles remaining till service is due... (you don't have to put the key in either).

This is why I don't trust computer maint. intervals and just change the oil every 5 grand with synthetic.Cost's 50 bucks to change the oil yourself....why stretch things to there limit???????????

I did my first oil change at 5k, but thats because it was a new motor. I had to talk myself to go past the 1000 mark, as typically thats when I do the first oil change with a new motor.

When I changed it at 5k, the oil quality was very clean. From now on I will change it at 8k, unless the oil filtration monitor suggests otherwise

I changed the oil the first time at 3k and the oil didn't look that clean. It must be a law in europe to have 7500 or higher oil change intervals. If a chrysler is sold in the US the schedule says 3k never exceed 6k.If the car is exported the schedule jumps to 7500.I got this info out of the 2004 2005 chrysler car owner manuals.

When I first got my car the FSS read 7000 miles. This morning it read 4700. BUT, I had not followed the instructions and warmed the engine then let it sit 5 minutes. Oh, maybe the was for the electronic oil level check (which I never did get to come up despite following the instructions both from this board and the manual).
