Troubleshooting & Technical Questions & ModificationsHave technical or modification questions about the Crossfire?

I think the knowledgeable here will need more. To be clear, you do not mean engine knocking, but something in steering or suspension, is that right?
What does it take to make it happen - a certain speed? - Turning in a certain direction?
Does it ALWAYS happen when driving or does it seem related to the car being cold or warmed up?
My vote is wheel bearings. But that's based only on your posts, I could be way off.
Give it a few days to see what the crowd here has to say. MY Graphite had 116l000 on it when it was lost - never did bearings but I've heard of others needing to change them.
is it coming from front or rear? does it happen when you take off from dead stop? does it happen you give it wot( wide open throttle) or a hard (fast take off)? ok,,,,,, it is either the center bearing on the drive shaft ,,or it is the drive shaft.,if it is when going over a bump then it is the sway bar. jim
I have some knocking and not sure what it is.Just changed the rack and pinion and its still happening

You are being way too skimpy with words. The above is simply not enough to tell us much. If we take your words literally, we get this:
1) Some shop thought it was in the steering - that is an odd thing to believe is causing "knocking", I'm not sure what to make of that.
2) Within 100 feet of taking off, the knock starts but only after the car is warmed up, there is no knock if you drive the car cold - we just do'nt know how much driving constitutes "warming up" to you.
3) The knock is from the front, or at least that is how you perceive it.
I got nothing, This could be anything from broken motor mounts to bad flex discs to a bad wheel bearing. OR, if you HEAR the knock but do not FEEL the knock, it could be engine trouble of some sort, as you say you hear it (is that right?) but not that you feel it (either in the steering wheel or the car itself).
The knock starts up about 1/4 mile after the car warms up.And its only when I take off, it is not a constant while driving..I can feel it when my hand rests on the e-brake,not on the shift handle.
I just an alignment and was told it all looked good,
My guess (and it's a guess) is a broken motor mount. It DOES happen and when it does, you get this odd noise and you can see the shifter move side to side as the car shifts and also when you accelerate hard.

No shift side to side when it is an auto, which I assume it is.
I agree poor wording of the problem.
One mans knock is another mans tap.
Get under the car (safely) and move things around.
Loose wheel?

from what u said about feeling the e brake the do this after it is warm,, and all quite , take off hard, if it is there it is the center bearing or the u joint on the driveshaft. jim

NO, I didn't mean it like that. When Tricia ("OakwoodXF") had two broken motor mounts, the shifter would "wiggle" side to side as the car shifted, or as you accelerated or slowed.
This stopped when the motor mounts were replaced when a local garage found them to be broken.
We were sitting at the table last night talking about this, I'm staying with Darrell and Tricia, been here since December 21st. (I fly back to Texas today..)
Her breathers and valve covers should not leak any more - I put a lot of time in them..............
