Have you already cut your alarm apart and determined that you have no corrosion on the circuit board ?
If corrosion, order a new alarm and fugetabout batteries.

thank you for your comment.
i must explain: am not thinking on buying it right now. just trying to save time in case it has no corrosion.
i recall a discussion on the subject, and it was then that i saved the link, just to learn that is oos.
there are other packs available but are 3 points and this 1 seems easier to install, but if cant be found and there is no corrosion i will get other of 3 points that seem available.
the idea is to open it of course, but if it has corrosion i just will dump it and wont replace it.
but if i learn that it is needed for other purpose, that is, that if not installed it affects the performance or something else, i will replace it.
do you know if this is the case?
thanks again.

Just a suggestion, IF you have an OEM siren (maybe not), make sure before you buy the type of batteries (yes 2 IF they are the 3.6v ones) you need. Newer sirens that work in the crossfire have a (only one) 4.8v battery inside. You have to determine they type and voltage battery in YOUR specific siren. Otherwise, you'll be stocking up on batteries you may never use/need.

Don't waste your time. Your batteries will be corroded. Just replace the alarm or disconnect it as I did.

Nobody pays attention to alarms anymore anyway.

thanks you all for your advice.
with that in mind, when the weather permits, i will remove the alarm and open it just for the kicks. i think that if it is not necessary for supporting any other thing, i will not install again.
so far, nobody has brought input telling we need it for anything else, and where i live i dont need it.
i was curious about if it is necessary for anything else.
thanks again.

OR, read this post ( https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ent-issue.html ) to see if you want to tackle the replacement. Much less expensive and if yours hasn't leaked, very economical! Before ordering expensive batteries, make sure you order the correct replacement(s) and that the old ones didn't leak enough to damage anything!

when i started this thread, the only thing i knew was that this alarm sounds when some1 is trying to enter the car for stealing it (the purpose of it).
now i know:
1- that this battery is the only other besides the 1 to start the engine;
2-that if the battery built-in goes bad, there are no signs that warn you in advance. just dies.
3-and this may happen in the worst situation (as in the middle of the night), and if you dont disconnect the cars battery right there, it will discharge and you cant start the engine and have to recharge it.
4-even if you are able to disconnect the car battery right there, you still have to disconnect the alarm, and this means doing all the procedure right there, or you cant drive the car.
with all of this considered, and, as i dont live in a place that is high risk, i decided just to disconnect the alarm, and did this at my convenience.
in my case, i installed a bar at the steering wheel, that is visible, so it discourages the thief. the car cant be driven if not removed.
and this is all that i need after all.
thank you all that have contributed.
