Bas/esp light
I have a 2005 Crossfire Limited with 13,500 miles on it. I have owned it for one year. Three weeks ago the BAS/ESP light went on and I took the vehicle to service center with an excellent reputation for fixing any/all vehicles. They ran a diagnostic test and determined that I needed a new YAW Rate Sensor which they installed the following week. After installation, the scanner said that the problem was fixed. However, the BAS/ESP light continued to stay on. They tried 3 different scanners to "reprogram" the vehicle with no success in turning the light off. This week they will re-install a new and different YAW Rate Sensor. However, I am concerned that the results will be the same. The part with labor cost $1,325 plus $110 for the initial diagnostic test.
Any ideas on why the light continues to stay on when the diagnostic test states that the problem part has been fixed?
Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dennis

Most of the time you just have to start the car, turn the steering all of the way to the left then all of the way to the right, back to center and turn the car off . Then restart and take it for a short drive and it should go off. I doubt your Yaw sensor was bad. I don't think yhey tried to rip you off, just don't know crossfires. The search feature at the top R/H corner of this site can save you money and frustration.
I had a similar problem with my 2005 SRT-6. The BAS/ESP light would come on after about 5 to 10 minutes of driving and go off when the car was turned off. I took the car to the dealer and they replaced a leaking master brake cylinder and they thought that would take care of the problem. It did not solve the problem. I bought a OBD reader and found I had an error code (C1142 ABS Lateral Acceleration Sensor Open/Shorted). I replaced the sensor, cleared the error and took it for a drive and and the BAS/ESP light came on just as before. This would happen every time I drove the car. A few months later after the repair, the car would not turn over so I replaced the 3 year old battery. After replacing the battery, I have not had the BAS/ESP light come on since (over two years). I did test the battery periodically and it always tested good.
$1445 for a sensor? How can anyone charge that?

I'd be interested in what the hell "diagnostic test" they ran that said "replace the YAW sensor".

Standard stuff.
The other option is to hunt /order an Optima battery. I had one long ago and it worked fine. I'm planning on going that route with my next purchase on the family car, but will go light weight antigravity battery for the Crossfire.

This is in response to the BAS/esp light. Zip 439 asked if the cruise control works and it does. He also asked if the ESP was synchronized as stated on page 143 of the owner's manual. Page 143 in my owner's manual talks about the Parking Brake. I can't find anywhere a discussion on synchronizing the ESP light.
I am getting the impression that purchasing a new battery is the answer to turning off the BAS/ESP light. Is that correct?
Help would be appreciated.

A new battery solved the problem I was having with the BAS/ESP light.
It is an easy way to eliminate one thing that could be causing the problem.
No guarantee that it will solve your problem.

You said the cruise control works, yes? Like yesterday you drove the car, activated the cruise control and it worked fine? It may seem like a weird question, but it is important.

By chance is the spoiler stuck in the UP position?
Is the gear selector display on the dash working or is it displaying a solid blacked out square?
