Default alarm no worky

Hello,
So I started by pulling the original alarm, cut it in half, and the batteries had leaked everywhere.
Ordered a new one from Needswings and installed it yesterday.
Good news it that the chirp now works with lock/unlock.
Bad news is that I can't trigger the alarm from the remote's panic button.
Thoughts???
Michael

Yes I tried both remotes. 1 is the original and the other is new and programmed a month ago. Weird…

I believe that they do not go off as soon as the button is pressed but after a few seconds. Are you waiting long enough?

I’ve tried multiple pressings in a row and keeping my finger on the button for various lengths even over 12 seconds.

roll down driver window
turn off car and remove key
close door
lock car with remote
wait a minute
reach in through window and open door from inside handle
does the alarm go off now?

That worked! So I assume that means that the car is good and the new alarm is good??
So I guess this means that both remotes have a defective alarm button?

That may be a wrong assumption.

Not sure if I mentioned, but I did check the fuses under hood.
I am open to a correct assumption

Thank goodness I've never had a need for a panic button.

Agreed, but since my wife and daughter will be driving from time to time, it would give me comfort in having it work.

I had an occasion to 'replace' the red button on one of my FOB's with one from a NEW eBay FOB case. The red 'pin' flared and the center portion disintegrated over time. Popped off (carefully) the red 'panic' button parts off the working FOB, and popped off the panic button off a NEW replacement FOB case (again, carefully), and the fit was perfect. Maybe, just maybe, your FOB circuit board switch is fine, and that red plastic 'panic' button pin is distorted and not correctly pushing the location where it should on the circuit board. Here below is the one I purchased, if this might be your issue. To help, you might be able to remove your 'panic' button (carefully) and push (gently) a clean-cut end of a toothpick into the hole and press the button to see if the switch is actually working. Here (https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_ssn...sfire&_sacat=0) is where I got my replacement (there was no place I could find, for just the red panic button part). While I was at it, I also replaced the entire ''black' insert as well since it was slightly scratched from other stuff in my pocket over the years. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I should have mentioned that the one fob is old (possibly the original) and the other fob is brand new. And neither one works.

Anyone have an issue with their car alarm going off spontaneously and the alarm sounding very low?
If so, how was it repaired?

Thanks,

Use the search at the top of the page. Just type in replace alarm siren.
