Please read #9, #16 & #17. It really helps members if you read the entire post before suggestions. (I bought a new RCM from Amazon for $132 delivered.) Keeps from a lot of duplication of efforts. Thanks for the suggested help just the same!

"I BELIEVE I MAY HAVE FOUND MY NO START PROBLEM!" The car has been starting so I decided to put the bezel back on the dash gages. In doing so I removed the RFID Fob antenna ring. Couldn't put the bezel back on so I reinstalled the RFID ring which created a "no start" situation again. Removed ring and studied it. Found it has to be installed in certain way or car won't start. The wire going into the ring has to be at the 2:00 position when installed. Is my RFID ring defective? Doesn't seem to have a definite lock in position around the tumbler nut!

i just did the 'Sticky Key' fix over the weekend and i was having issues with the RFID ring, too.
i also could not find a definite lock in position.
i'm not sure if my wiring is in the 2:00 position but i didn't have any starting issues

HOW THE HECK DO YOU GET THE DARN BEZEL BACK ONTO THE GAGES???? When I removed the bezel I broke it at the top and had to epoxy it back together. I don't want to manhandle it, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to reinstall it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

when you say RFID ring are you speaking of the silver ring around the ignition switch?

Re: your dash beezel... OUCH !!
in searching through the forums i've seen video of someone removing and then replacing the dash bezel.
i'll look for it

I guess my tip off was noticing the scratches on the RFID ring, chrome portion, where former owners had scratched it when inserting key. I turned the antenna ring "scratches" to about the 3 o'clock position and the car started right up. Hope this will be the fix I've been wanting!

Oh yes! That's what I needed. Thanks for that video link. I'll bet when i start doing the "bending" to get the top in it breaks. I'm thinking maybe to cut off the two lugs at the top so I don't have to bend it so far. If it seems a little loose I could put a dab of silicone adhesive there. I saw a used bezel for $175 and I though "no thank you!"

I used a soldering iron, on the backside. to melt pieces together before using the ABS plastic epoxy.

Everything is back together except for the two screws at very back that secures the foot guard. Just can't find the alignment for the screws to grab. After cutting off the tabs at the top of the bezel, and breaking two tabs left and right of it, the bezel went right on and seems to be tight. The bezel tabs are very brittle from the age of the car. (Thanks eelya1 for link to the how to install video!)

Did we not tell you (maybe we didnt) but you are to order the SLK320 part, which that is.

It fits. The website is wrong.

Sorry if i missed that.
I had already ordered that part and plan to do the resolder fix this weekend and and keep the new one as a spare.
I believe that there WAS info there that said it fits the Crossfire, but i wanted to inform others that if they followed your link that they might get the ALERT.

I REALLY appreciate all that you do here.
Folks like me would be in a world of hurt without this site

You said, "Everything is back together except for the two screws at very back that secures the foot guard. Just can't find the alignment for the screws to grab."

One of the Sticky Key tutorials advised against removing those two screws for that very reason.

I didn't remember that though, and also removed them.
Luckily i was able to get them back in.

Thanks Pizzaguy! Yes it is the one I ordered and received even before the link that was posted as being wrong. It never said what it fit but in some of the questions/answers asked of the vendor, it was said it was an updated RCM for SLK320 and fits the Crossfire. As it turned out though, it was not the fix for my no start problem. Looks like it was a mal-adjusted RFID antenna ring. But before I start doing a "happy dance" I'll have to see if my no start condition returns. ( BEING 75 I HOPE I NEVER HAVE TO GO THRU REMOVING THE LOWER AND UPPER DASH! IT BEAT ME UP PRETTY GOOD TRYING TO BE A CONTORTIONIST GETTING TO ALL THE SCREWS AND DEALING WITH BRITTLE PLASTIC PARTS! )

If I don't eventually get them back in I'll use some double sided carpet tape and stick that sucker together. LoL With the multitude of "Sticky's" how did you find that little tid-bit of information? Thanks eelya1

Now "IF" I have saved money from not having to repair the SKREEM, I can move on to doing some other necessary things to be done. My cat has about a 3" weld separation that I will repair with some hi-temp exhaust wrap for a temporary fix. I also need to get an alignment since putting on the new tires. Car drives straight but steering is a little squirrelly when going over imperfections in the road. Next time I'm under the car I'll out a new steering stabilizer on. I'd like to keep an original radio but I'm needing a new radio cause buttons only work sometimes.

@ 1249 ESTime: I knew it was too soon to do that "happy dance!" Used car several times yesterday and all morning morning today, start and stop errands, with no problems! Came home a few minutes ago and was going to move cars around in driveway and wouldn't you just know that the "damn" car did same symptoms of 3 times no start and 4th time wouldn't do anything! Just "knew" it was the RFID antenna being mis-aligned! How could it be the faulty "SKREEM" that is making me scream! Seems it would be bad all the time and not just sometimes. Now I have to "humble" myself to my neighbors, who have been watching my efforts, to help me push it away from the street. Tell me "Pizzaguy" the error of my ways! LoL

Up date @ 1:15 Today Removed battery cable, as suggested, and replaced after 30 seconds. The car started right up. MSS said if it did not start it would definitley be a bad SKREEM. So where do I go from here? Maybe a bad RFID antenna ring?

I'm tired of messing around with this intermittent "no start" situation.. I'm going to just go ahead and remove the SKREEM and ECU and hope for the best repair to make it reliable from MSS. I'll just keep throwing money at it until it works properly. A good deal to buy the car and now I'm in it too far not to spend more money. I've got about $1600, with SKREEN repair, after what I paid for the car. Now everyone can cry crocodile tears for me! Boo hoo poor me! LoL
