Not an RCM problem! Secondary air pump still cycling on and off
This evening after about 30 miles driven over two days on tighed1’s swapper RCM module, the CEL returned. P0410.
The secondary air injection pump still cycles on for a few seconds while sitting at stoplights. It may cycle on while the car is moving, but I cannot hear it to confirm.
Looks like my problem is not the RCM. I now think that my original RCM with the new relay is fine, as the same behavior happens with the swapper RCM. Am curious what tighed1 determines after he receives my original RCM on Monday.
I replaced the blue air pump check valve less than a year ago with a new one, so don’t think that it’s the problem.
I’ve also ordered a set of Torx female sockets so that I can remove pump’s ground connection for detailing.
I did find an old post in this thread https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/877529-post7.html describing how to hack the control code to turn off the secondary air pump, but the tool needed to do so is $500. (The poster is in Gilroy about 35 miles from me, so I will message him to see if he’s still active on forum.) One also has to believe the MB SLK320 control code is used as-is by the Crossfire before doing the hack.
Has anyone else encountered this behavior? If so, guidance please? Thanks
Re: Not an RCM problem! Secondary air pump still cycling on and off
I wonder if you could clear your code and exchange the RCM (maybe from someone local perhaps) who does not have a P410 error code showing and , put your RCM in their vehicle and see if they then get the error code, now with their RCM in your vehicle see if the code generates again, this should either eliminate or implicate that particular RCM.

Yep, tighed1's "swapper" RCM was a known good one and once he receives my old one he should be able to confirm that mine was actually good.
Re: p0410 secondary air injection system malfunction solution?
.
As said before, the secondary air pump runs when the emissions are out of tolerances (or at first start to help warm the engine), so it by itself does not mean that is the problem. Check the service manual (mine is 2nd volume, page 9-387 titled P0410-Secondary Air Injection System) for a step by step troubleshooting of that code and associated. Hope you find your answer there!
Re: p0410 secondary air injection system malfunction solution?
I was looking thru the paperwork from my Crossfire...The previous owner had it at the dealership and they said they found a PO 410 code....they replaced the RCM...they charged him 690.00 parts....138.00 labor....

I recently learned that the air pump switching on while at idle is a function of the PCM as it is testing the pump ( air system) for proper function. Thus the pump switch on for a few seconds is normal while the car is warmed up at idle. This link is about fuel trim, but you may glen some useful information in respect to your problem air pump function

I tracked it down to the passenger side valve. I was able to connect the air pump directly to the battery to monitor air flow and found that with the air pump on there was air flowing out of the top vacuum line. I inspected the valve and compared it to the drivers side value and it appears the seal is broken. Picture below. Look inside the larger opening and you can see a gasket. So, I think my next step is to purchase a new air valve. AMG a1121400260. So far, I only see this part number on EBAY. I'd rather buy a new one.
As of 9/18/2017 = the problem is FIXED!. Thanks to the forum.
hello, I’m trying to remove mine but the screw is not coming out that holds this thing down. I swear it’s a 10mm socket. I’ve tried all sizes of sockets and it skips over the screw/bolt. Do you remember how you removed this thing? I need to put my new one on🥺
