Uncovered her and released her from the man cave for a spirited 20 mile drive. Sunny and 50 and the salt was washed from the streets this past Sunday. These days are only going to become more rare as we slide further into winter. There is one good thing about driving this time of year, no dead bug splatters.

I guess I have to be the first to say this: you're sucking in thin, hot, under-the-hood air with that arrangement. You'd be much better off to extend the intake tubes so the filters sit forward of the engine compartment a la Needswings to gulp in nice cold dense air...
Yes they go over the existing tube with a red rubber sleeve and hose clamps. The company on ebay is pHtuneup. Here'sthe link.

I'd be better off with a supercharger too. I can only do so much right now and this was priced right and looks good and is better than the stock setup. I also removed the stock boxes in the corners the stock tubes attached to so I can get much more air in.
Ditto pjm...I too am at somewhat of a cost disadvantage, at this time... it does look better and I think the performance factor could be enhanced slightly... pprprice looks good also.. Carl
General consensus is that any benefit from a free flowing filter placed under the hood is more than balanced out by the fact that hot air is less dense than cold air & thus has less oxygen...net result of a hot-air filter is most likely a slight loss in performance, not a gain...
Does look nice though.
Yes I removed the stock filters and sealed the boxes. The new ones are in front of the engine and right by the fan and will get extra air as well as the air from the corner openings while the car is moving should not cause any loss and possibly some gains especially in cool weather. Bottom line I am not racing at the track. It is just a street car so I am not concerned about the very very small gain or loss.

Added Bonus.. Wife loves the way it sounds under the hood now..
Well, after nearly a week of cold, cloudy, and snowy weather, it finally warmed up today. With the temps in the 60s, I went with a friend on a short drive in Douglas County, Colorado. We scoped out some new roads. I thought I was a maniac driver, but I don't hold a candle to her driving. She drives an '03 WRX as her daily. She now has the Crossfire perma-grin.
